I finished my first run through the game yesterday and it was great but one thing has been really bothering me and that thing is my failure at the tech expert part. I thought I made the best choice by picking Tali but the doors jammed up and she took a missle to the head, poor thing. Everybody else survived except her and I can't get over the guilt.

Who was the best choice for that particular job?

Tali and Legion are the best choices for that, but there's always a chance that they can die even when you have their loyalty. It probably also wouldn't hurt if you rushed through that part as fast as you can

Tali lived for me- you probably messed up loyalty or something. Or the game messed up/there's some randomness to it.

I chose Tali and she lived. Did you upgrade mordin's omni-tool and jack's biotics? Did you do everyone's loyalty mission?

Also, who did you pick for the other tasks?

With my game, I had everyone loyal, upgraded everything. I chose Tali for vents, Garrus as fire team leader both times, samara as biotic shield, and grunt for escort, and everyone made it out alive.

I stupidly misread the mission and thought it was more of a stealth mission and picked garrus to take care of it. My only death *sigh*

All members were loyal and all upgrades they offered were purchased. I got through that part pretty quickly as well but maybe I could have been quicker or I just had bad luck.

Also, who did you pick for the other tasks?

Zaeed led the second team in the beginning. Jack kept the barrier up. Garrus led the other team the second time and Grunt escorted the kidnapped crew back to the Normandy.

I don't know if speed has anything to do with it, but when Tali was in the vents, I went as fast as I could so she'd survive.

Sounds like bad luck on your part. Reload and try again or send Legion instead?

I picked Legion as well as tech specialist. It was either him or Tali and I thought he'd have a bit of an upper hand in the combat experience department going solo through the ducts.



A lot of others have posted picking Tali and her making it out fine so I'm sure it must have something to do with your part in opening the 8 vents for her. While using Legion, he would constantly give me clues as to how he was faring like "I need the vent open to proceed" and "My shielding wont hold out much longer". I kind of rushed through this part in order to make sure I got to all the vents in time and he made it out just fine.



Using Grunt (with incendiary ammo) and Thane (with shredder ammo), you can slice and dice through the collectors real quick.
