I have a gameplay history in Mass Effect 2 of some 16 hours of it working fairly well, aside from one or two AI hiccups everything's been running good. Then while running around on the citadel looking for the next step in Thane's mission after mouse and trying to find that damn credit chit, out of the blue game starts to stutter and sound goes all repeating in the "you have chrashed" way, if you know what I mean? I thought okay, maybe it ran out of memory or something, or it was possible that my graphics card had another heat issue. But no, other intensive 3D games run fine as well as Aero 3D and any function I usually use.

I tried to reboot and start the game back up, but the screen simply stays black indefinitely and sometimes the cursor changes to the "hourglass". Alt+F4 unresponsive, only way out is taskmanager. I once saw a dialog pop up in the background about some kind of failure to load resources or something like that, can't remember, can't get it back, and it asked if I wanted to "load default level". I got this on the very first start of the game too and clicking it did indeed make any issues go away, but as I said I can't get it to come back.

I tried the -nomoviestartup fix. But this simply keeps the game from freezing right away, which apparantly was the cause of the hourglass cursor. It still stays black.

I'm stumped, and I don't know how to read the crash logs[help here please]. But my specs are as follows:

Win7 RC x64 - Danish
Powercolor HD4870 PCS+ - Driver: (vendor cusomised?) 9.11
ASUS Xonar DX - driver 7.12.8.1775 (GX on/off appears to have no effect, neither does disabling audio with either the device manager or the me2 config utility) OpenAL 1.1
Quad Core CPU

Oh yeah btw, it's a digital download from the EA Store.
