I have to say I haven't encountered any yet. In Mass Effect 1 when you sacrifice a team-mate was painful though.

Same

I sniffled abit for the Miranda and Thane loyalty stories at their endings but all in all, ME2 is emotionally void as a Bioware game!

It simply didnt make the connection Bioware games usually do.

Still better then stuff like Fallout 3 but not up to snuff for Bioware

Tali's loyalty mission. When she got teary over finding her father's body, I actually cried a little (not a sobbing cry, but there were tears and an ache in my throat). And the paragon hug, quite possibly the game's Crowning Moment of Heartwarming.

Tali's personal mission was the big emotional scene for me, same with thane's mission and Miranda.

but on the upside, I didn't let anyone died during the suicide mission on the first playthough. Image IPB

yeah, Pressley, I didn't even like him in the first game, his xenophobia irritated me, and then reading that his views changed and that he said he'd die for any of the crew regardless of what planet they were born on.... manly tears

Returning from the Collector base to a crewless, Legionless Normandy. In my next playthrough, no one dies

...and I'm putting a Cain blast to that Reaper's face.

Second, the Jack love scene, only romance I'll ever do. <3

Just wondering. In Jacob's loyalty mission if you go the paragon route does he still hand his dad a pistol to kill himself? I thought that was fairly intense.

Greatest moment for me was Shepard walking back from the coffins at the end of the game and walking past all of the surviving crew members who all just smiled or nodded in respect...it was epic with the victorious music playing in the background.

I was holding my breath during the whole last mission...crew members were dropping left and right and I really wanted to make it through with Miranda (who I romanced).  My heart sank at the end when she was buried under rubble and I thought it was over for sure, but she was okay!

The entire final mission was very emotional I thought.  I built up relationships with crew members throughout the game and it was tough seeing some of them die.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

Top five (in order from most emotional to least emotional)

1. When Tali finds her dead father (this one actually made me cry, and I almost never cry)

2. Watching Tali almost die at the suicide mission (held my breath for a long time there, heart racing)

3. The entire first bit, from when the collector ship attacks you, to when Shepard falls towards the planet.

4. Mordin's famous speech about the Krogan female.

5. The scene where you have to choose which of Samara and Morinth should die.

I agree with people who say it was emotionally poor for a Bioware game, especially following DA:O. The only characters I cared about were the ones from ME1, and I think if anything had happened to EDI I would have been up in arms. They really should have included more of the original team in the game to create more of an immotional impact. Luckily I only lost Jack in the final mission was no big loss as she was more annoying than Alenko and I only ever spoke to her once in the ship to get her loyalty mission.

I would have been very bothered if anything had happened to Joker/Garrus/Tali. This would have been the same if Wrex and Liara were with me as well, especially Wrex.

For me it was:

When the first Normandy was destroyed
Walking through the wreckage of the Normandy
Seeing the new Normandy for the first time
Seeing Garrus for the first time, and seeing him almost killed by the gunship
Seeing Kaidan (LI from ME) on Horizon and not being able to convince him that I hadn't betrayed him
The Email from Kaidan
Tali finding her father's body
Everything about Thane
Losing the crew to the Collectors
Watching Shepard spend the final moments before the suicide mission staring at Kaidan's picture
Seeing everyone survive at the end

1. Garrus wanting it to be right.. just this once.
2. Thane admitting that he was afraid to die, and crying. I got misty-eyed myself.
3. Mordin talking about his nephew. Maybe it's because I have a beloved genius of a niece, but it really spoke to me.
4. Samara saying how proud she was of Morinth after we killed her.
5. Getting drunk with Chakwas and reminiscing about Jenkins and the old Normandy.

Those all made me tearful to some degree. Now for rage.

1. The Council denying any existence of the Reapers and calling me delusional.
2. Kaidan telling me he didn't trust me anymore.
3. The Illusive Man, the entire game.
4. Quarian racism, and their inability to understand that they wronged a sentient race. Machine or not.
5. The gunship for ruining my beautiful Garrus' face.

Ah I like the other one better.

"There's no way I hold them off with this!"

Jacob "It's not for them.. dad."

Hrmm, the Paragon route for me was handing him over to an Alliance tribunal where he'd rot in prison for the rest of his life.

Mordin realizing the price while examining the dead krogan lady. (Yeah, lady. I mean, if we are speaking of Krogan females, we shall call them ladies, don't we? :) )
Imho that was the best loyalty mission. Far better than anything else, for all these conversations.

Jack's hidden personality pulled out. All the feelings hidden behind her voice, between the lines. Was really touching.

And Garrus. The very last moments of his recruitment missions. When he lies there, half of his face covered by blood and the smoke of the burned flesh, and I honestly thought that I screwed it up and he's gone. Then he opens his eye, lets out a groan as his chest struggles to get some air again. I was literally saying 'No, no, no, don't die on me, Garrus, damn it,' then 'Oh, thank god'.

Oh, and Mordin's nephew scene. Again, that was... you know, like spotting a personal side of the character that he usually hides in the public. I couldn't help but think of Jack and Ash, Anderson, the people my Shepard is fighting for. Very well done!

This four.

Have to admit that Liz pulled that line very well in Tali's loyalty mission, but honestly, I already knew everything about the mission, not the slightest twist there. Still, that scene was well-delivered, however for me, not nearly as personal as Garrus. Can't help it, I just don't find her that interesting. Good for you who does :)

That is also much less compelling.

Very start of the game.

Thane's romance scene was extremly emotional.

Garrus in the end of his recruitment mission. I was also going all "No, no, stay with me!"

Seeing Joker and the new Normandy, it felt a little like coming home again. :D

Realising exactly what the collectors are and why the reapers needed organics.

A lot of the ending, all from the first cutscenes, to the fighting, the massive reaper (that I was busy going all "Ok, this is not happening" atxD ) and the very last part.

Just as emotional as the first game, if not more.

Every cutscene used in the suicide mission was emotional.

Also: Shepard dying at the start, Joker's attempts at saving the Normandy, Miranda talking to her sister, Thane and his son, Garrus getting shot by the ship, Grunt's passage into the Urdnot clan, Shepard's various speeches and more.

And last but not least: the Normandy crash site - a gripping emotional part of Mass Effect 2.

Reading XO Pressly's personal messages really made me miss him and everyone else that died.

For me the most emotional moment was Tali's loyalty mission. I felt her pain and need. To be honest every thing about her made me feel. Her falling for you sceen was the best in the game easy and it felt real.

Paragon ending: have the Alliance pick him up for trial
"Neutral" ending: Leave him on the planet
Renegade ending: shoot him

I believe all of them count as successful endings and cause Jacob to be loyal.  Some loyalty missions can be completed but without making the squadmate loyal (e.g. saving the refinery workers and letting Santiago get away in Zaeed's loyalty mission).

you can save the workers and have Zaeed loyal, your para level just has to be massively high to do the check at the end when you save his skin

everything about Tali for me + Mir's loyalty quest.
