...should totally come out to these forums and let us know whats what.  Fill in any unknowns that should be clarified before ME3.  Clarify a bunch of stuff that is being debated.

Here's to wishful thinking!:D

I think Mac Walters would be the guy to talk to now. He was the lead writer for ME2. Drew moved on to other things awhile ago.

I agree Drew is my fav out of all Bioware people and everything Mass related. Was it his idea about Mass Effect or did he just write some books? Cause The first bit of Mass Effect was Revalation.

Oh well just asking...

But to me if he would have wrote everything Mass related in ME2 we would have more memorable moments. And the story wouldn't be so......quick? I don't care to much for Mac Walter.

He did a lot of writing for ME1, if I'm not mistaken. However, according to his official site, he's moved to Austin, TX so he's probably working on TOR now.

I hope he takes a more active role in ME3. I greatly enjoy ME2, but I think the first one had a better story.

Mass Effect 2 basically condensed all the story into the very beginning of the game, and the very end of the game.  The entire "meat" of the game was just "hey, go get this person.  And if you give a ****, do their mission."

BW may do something like this, but probably not for a while. They've started working on ME3, but only so far as writing out the beginning bits of the final game's story. I doubt they have anything specific for anything yet, especially not regarding returning characters, new characters, etc.

But I do hope they'll drop some news around here when they get things ironed out. Would be appreciated, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I read the books in the order they were meant... Redemption before ME1 and Ascencion before ME2.. Reading them gave me instances where I would go "Ohhhh... right... so that's why..."

Having backstory is great for bringing a good RPG alive... Dragon Age is good but Mass Effect is superb.

For example, Tali's rescue team... why they were VERY antagonistic toward Cerberus. I'd be mad too if a friend joined an organisation that nearly to killed 600+ men women and children on purpose. That is explained in Ascension.

I would like to have seen Khalee Saunders somewhere in the games though... would have been a real buzz to say the least.

Oh and Jack and Miranda's story are very similar even if they turned out different. Ascension showed a case of what Cerberus do to biotic children.

I thought ME2 was quite a bit better written than the first and the Lead Writer was Walters.

ME1 was a good story but parts were badly voice acted I thought.

ME2 is better acted even if some say the old squad members were not shocked you were still alive. There actually IS a reason for this. If you had the collectors edition for example you would have part one of the comic series called Redemption that explains Liara's hunt for dead Shepard.

It's like a jigsaw puzzle... The games are only part of the whole picture... the books and the comics are like pieces of the edge that help define the story.

True and this is one of the reasons why I think the narrative continuity from the last game feels so disjointed. Not to mention the utter banality of the overarching plot.
