I gave TIM the collector base, then told him to go F**K himself.
Was this a bad idea? o.o
Did I do something stupid?

Considering what he says if you decide to destroy the entire Collector base, I think he's proven to be the wrong man to be in charge.
Cerberus isn't humanity, good ser. Humanity is what Cerberus is meant to fight for!

I'm torn on the issue, sure the base should theoretically help in the issue versus the reapers, but what could the cost be?
On the second hand, what if all things go to hell without it, and we all die as a result?
Even as Paragon, I think I would rather take my chances and save the base. Honestly.

I wish there was an option to give the base to the Council or something. It's a lose-lose really. Destroy base-> Lose tech valuable to stopping Reaper invasion.
Give base to TIM-> Give super tech to racist creep. Who knows what he'll do with it once the reapers are gone, he might start a massive war to put humanity at the top

Ive said before, I think the base will play a part in whether or not humans can keep their current choak hold on the galaxy. It was hinting thoughout the game that there is tension between humans and the rest of the galaxy. I think without the tech boost humans wont be able to keep the galaxy under bootheels long enough to provide a united front when the reapers finally show. With the base gone, the galaxy will revolt and will be fractured at the point of the reapers arrival..making ME3 slightly more difficult for shepard3.

If you take the Paragon path, you see the Illusive Man's true colors. He doesn't give a damn about everybody else.

I took great pride in telling that jerk to shut the hell up after I blew up his little spoils of war. All my alien friends didn't risk their lives just so he can have some more power!

What do you mean by that? Never took para path when it comes to base.

But is his path better than death of all? I think so.

He gets all pissed off saying humans and cerberus need to grab the technological edge to keep control of the galaxy or some nonsense like that.....

Reapers only leave behind technology that they want to be found. All the Collector Base does is force galactic technological advancement to continue down the path already established by the Reapers. I'll take my chances with not giving over advanced (but ultimately dangerous) tech to a power hungry galactic overlord wannabee.

Well, yes and no. If death was final, ME2 wouldn't happen. :: snicker ::
