I beat the game and just completed all of the side missions (I think. I certainly haven't found any more) and I was going to all of the vendors to buy armor and upgrades that I had missed along the way and at my last stop I ran out of money with 3 Items left.  I was about 24,000 credits short.  I only screwed up hacking a few terminals and safes, and I salvaged everything I could find.  Has this happened to anyone else or have I just not found all of the sidequests? because it seems like there should be enough money in the game to buy everything without having to be absolutely perfect with hacking.

Well you do have the discounts..I did notice that the weapons person at Illium on the bottom floor or so doesn't give a discount...that annoyed me.

Even with the 150k import bonus I ran out of money.

You can always go to Tuchanka and bet on Varren pit fights, I guess. >.>

yeah I got the import bonus too, seems like an oversight in design if we're not missing something. I was at the store on Tuchanka when I ran out of cash and tried betting on the varren a couple times and promptly decided it wasn't worth trying. I wish I could sell resources or something, I've got way more than I need.

I noticed that credits was a lot harder to come by this time. It sucks real bad lol. ME1 your rolling in the "Creds" and this one I'm barely making it with all the stuff to buy lol >_<

Same here. Got the bonus creds for the rich achievement from ME1 and started with 150k. Didn't buy ANY armor or cabin upgrades or anything. Explored everywhere looking for missions to do for more cash and was still about 25k short of being able to buy the final upgrade. Grrr....

Consider yourselves lucky, you even with the bonuses you shouldnt be able to buy everything in the galaxy...i mean think about it...you have to have some sort of choice to make...some sort of risk to take.....

I was able to buy everything and upgrade everyone. I did with the ME1 import and already completing ME2 bonus. I hacked everything with no failures. I did do all the side missions including going to every planet trying to find those missions. When I completed I had all of 5000 credits left... or near that.

I think a lot of it has to do with how many upgrades you buy rather than research yourself. I was always coming up short on the platium or whatever...

Yeah, but I'm gearing everyone up for a suicide mission you know?  I'm not complaining that I can't buy my favorite videogame at the game store on the Citadel or dirty magazines on Omega; I just want a biotic attack upgrade.
Seriously.  I was in Nassana Dantius's corporate tower at one point; surely I could have just wired myself a couple billion credits from her personal computer?
Or I could have sold some of my crew to the Druuge; they're all Cerberus anyway and I don't like them.  Oops!  Wrong game.

Yeah I actually just started another playthrough with a different ME1 import and noticed that I started with 300,000+ credits so I suppose I'll be able to buy everything this time.

Also, I thought that the upgrades you bought at the store still had to be researched on the normandy to actually get them, like when you pick one up on a mission you still have to research it.  I figured that if I didn't but the ones in the store I just wouldn't get them, since they're not random drops theres only a fixed number of them that you can pick up on missions. Right?

I imported too and bought what I could, and upgraded at the ship for the rest. I haven't ran out yet.

What I found annoying was that you could still buy upgrades even if you already found them. I did that a bunch of times because I didn't know that I had maxed out something already. It would be nice if Bioware fixed that.

I worried about this.

I also assume once you buy an item, you can still find it.

I may hold off buying from any of the kiosks until near then end of the game.

I think that was an actual design desicion. That way you have to choose what you focus on, pretty much you can't have everything, an attempt help promote replayablilty..

No, there are 6/6 for example biotic upgrades- 3 you can find and 3 you have to buy in order to get the whole 6. it is kinda strange but they did it in order to make the challenge more unlike ME1 where you had to use command line in order to get all armor.. (Cerberus armor which appears only on corpses in ME2) - must be somewhere a hole in the design-

Sorry for moving up an old topic.

Do you mean the investment opportunities? There's a finite number of them, and the profit (if you do the right ones only) is orders of magnitude less than cost of upgrades.

In any case, do you really need *all* pistol AND smg AND shotgun AND assault rifle AND sniper rifle AND biotics AND tech AND heavy weapons AND kinetic barrier AND medigel upgrades? (In the unlikely case that the answer is "yes" there's always gibbed...)

I got the import bonus and the ME2 complete bonus, did every quest, hacked everything, and got every discount. I also did every DLC(except Overlord and LotSB) before the suicide mission and I was able to buy everything. Most of it I saved up until later and bought everything right before Reaper IFF. Then after I finished the game and did Overlord and LotSB I had over 200,000 credits left over.

Or just use Gibbed and cheat.

Why? I thought ME1 was a little ridiculous with how plentiful money was. It completely sucked all the fun out of getting new and better gear when it was readily available to be bought up the second I found someone selling it. I thought DA:O handled it a LOT better, where even if you focus on making as much money as possible, you can depend on two things: you won't NEED to buy anything to have good odds at the end, and you won't be ABLE to buy anywhere near everything unless you cheat big time.

AFAIK, you get a discount from her when you do Conrad Verner's side quest (must have treated him right in ME1 for him to even appear).

You're doing something wrong. I usually end up with 100,000 to 200,000 plus at the end after buying everything (after getting the Kestral Armor, I skip the armor pieces that are not worth the bonus). Are you doing LotSB, that gives you 90,000? Recruitment's 30,000 to 60,001 each, loyalty missions 30,000 (more for Tali Treason) each and don't waste probes mining excess minerals.
Are you getting a discount at EACH store? Conrad Verner MUST survive ME1 to get the Weapons Merchant discount, Grunt's loyalty gets a discount @ Fortack's database & killing Pyjaks for Ratch, all the others are in ME2 wether or not they survived ME1. If GIanna P survived ME1 then she is worth 10 renegade IF you do bottom right and not the bottom left Renegade option and you still get the discount.
If you want to reduce the amount of minerals required for research projects then play as a Engineer (5-25% fewer required each).
