prettymuch what the title says, wondering if the story changes significantly if you choose to be a spectre again, i told them to F off and i ahven't started my second play through, for anyone who has does it do anything important? and you think it'll have an impact in ME3?

I chose to get my spectre status back, and I noticed absolutely zero difference. Your in the Terminus Systems, it's not like breaking a rule or two is going to get you in trouble.

I based all my decisions off what I would do in the heat of the moment.

The Council that I saved from Sovereign completely blew me off again. I told them to shove it.

no changes noted, that was the last I heard from them. However I suspect something will come up in ME3.

If you get it back, Anderson (if councilor) says it means nothing and it's just a title now.

There are one or two conversation options it gives you. Otherwise, I think that's it. It told them to blow as well.

For example, when you are doing the interrogation on Thane's loyalty quest, if you mess up and the lawyer comes in you can tell him that you're a Spectre. This makes him back off immediately and let you finish the interrogation.

The Council decided to completely ignore that I saved their lives from a giant, talking battleship, so I told them to kiss the fattest part of my ass.

I actually didn't even touch on this subject with my Renegade Vanguard, and I noticed in a couple of situations they made use of their Specter status (like with thanes Son, the interrogation scene - my character announced themselves as a specter). I kind of get the feeling . . . it doesn't matter.

I did it, just because. You never know when you might need it.

Told them to ****** off on my first playthrough, and chose reinstatement on my second. I really don't think it makes a difference...though it may have an impact on things in ME3.

I didn't speak with Anderson 'till after the credits on my6 second playthrough, but did it first thing on my first. It made no difference whatsoever, there wasn't even any different dialogue,

I chose to be reinstated because my Shep's logic was that she served the people as a Spectre and not the Council. They are punk politicians so I never care nor am surprised by their manipulations and cowardice.

if you do get it reinstated you can use it to your advantage during Thane's loyalty mission

I chose to get my status back. After all it could prove useful in information and such. Sides I'm not going to let them take what I earned in Me1 ~.~ Given the ME2 ending I'm pretty sure they'd be happy to know how badly I ****ed TIM over :D

first playthrough I got it back, second playthrough they didn't even want to admit that I existed, the only council member I met with was Udina, and he pretty much left the room immediately and told Anderson to meet with him afterward.

If you get the spectre status, you get a few options to bypass security. Pretty awesome. Like for example, some guy is picking on a Quarian, a C-Sec officer, you tell him to shove off and stop picking on her and he says he can get you arrested. You mention you're a spectre and he freaks.

I need to state again that my Shepard that didn't regain the title still got those same Specter dialogue options there . . .

My paragon Shep got spectre status back but felt like blowing the morons on the Council away.

Does the option to reinstate Spectre status only appear if you play an ME1 save?

I'm past Thane's Loyalty mission where it may have been useful & have not had any such offer.

I'm playing a 'new' Shepard, rather than one of my previous ME1.

Yeah you can only become reinstated if you import an ME1 save where you saved the council at the end as the default ME2 Shepard seemed to be an ass in ME1. My Shepard took it back because I thought it might affect something in ME3.

You can only get reinstated as a Spectre if you chose Anderson as the council member, not Udina. Udina doesn't like you enough to stand up for you.

Personally I hope that getting reinstated does have significant weight in ME3 versus not, because otherwise it's going to be rather disappointing.
