I know this is a super old thread, but I just wanted to point out that the Heretics (A) were the ones who believed that Reapers ways were right, where as the other Geth (B) didn't agree. If rewriting A as B... then they will also disagree with the Reapers. I don't see how they would "go back to their old ways"..... once rewritten, technically speaking, they have already gone through that choice in the past and chosen against them.

It's weird. I don't see why rewriting them is worse than destroying them. They're machines. Honestly no matter how hard they tried, Bioware could never get me to really care about the fate of the Geth. The ending is supposed to come down to the struggle between organics and synthetics but that's really never what the whole series was about to me. We've seen how fickle the decisions of synthetics are again and again aside from Edi.

if you're looking at paragon/renegade scores, destroying the heretics will get you a +30 on renegade and a rewrite will get you +30 paragon. I chose to destroy them after jack suggested hypnotising them was immoral, but i was going for the paragon so i had to redo the boring fight with the heretics again to chose to rewrite them.

i destroyed them

not because they weren't valuable. But because i reversed the role.

were fighting the reapers, who use indoctrination. Essentially changing the way you think without asking you, or without you being able to stop it.

i don't want to the reapers to indoctrinate, harvest, or do anything to any other race.
why would i in turn do it to the geth?
