There should be enough missions in the game to make you level 30 before doing the final mission.

it seems the "explorers" get penalized and the players that only do the main missions level up quickly.

ya i dunno what to say, I imported my lvl 60 soldier, got 100% on all the solar systems, did pretty much everything to do, and finished the game a hair under lvl 30. It is what it is, I suppose

There are only enough missions to reach level 30 the first time if you import a level 60 ME1 character(maybe level 50, I haven't tried that one). Anything else will fall short. Afterwards, however, you'll gain 25% more exp. on new playthroughs, which means you can easily reach it even from level 1. I think

having already beat it i get the 25% exp bonus (which i would like to turn off so i dont have to delete all the achievements i earned) so i can only speak from my time playing the game.
but still, i always earned more from doing the main missions and then after reaching the boss i went back to a save and did all the side missions i missed (which was almost all of them) and i earned enough exp from them to max out and another 3k ish exp.
then i went and beat the game, im not sure how much exp you can earn on the last two main missions (and last loyalty mission) but it should be enough to max.
If someone who has NOT beat the game could test this that would be nice.

there it is possible >.> .... for only 1 person it seems XD
you know... you kinda dont need an exp bonus on ME2 and it doesnt need to be higher then the combined exp bonus you got from 4-5 different achievements in ME1.
but back on topic... which is: "WAS IT HARD REACHING LEVEL 30?"
not even on your first try, i mean in general.

It was really easy to hit level 30, for me, the new exp/leveling system used in ME2 is terrible compaired to ME1.

you mean how to doesn't jump more then 4k exp needed between levels?
like when going from level 59 to level 60 you needed an extra 200k exp XD
btw, it took me 2 1/5 playthroughs to max out in ME1.
did every mission possible twice and then did enough side missions to max out 3rd time and just focused on beating the game.
then went back and did every mission possible in case it was needed for something in ME2.
