Being new to this whole Mass Effect thing, I put my casual diffculity on. Not knowing what I was doing, but willing to try it out. To make an extended long detailed story short..I completed all loyatly quest's, however did not upgrade the ship but did upgrade the weapons.

Jack was first one to fall when a lazor beam cut her through her head while she was at the controls going through the omega 4 relay

The Asssasion was second one to fall when the ship crashed and some metal fell on top of him

Jacob fell when tried to close the door, and even completed the vent okay but got caught by a bullet

Grunt fell while leading a team through the things

The bitoc woman got swarmed by a swarp of bugs nearly all the way into it..

Owned :crying:

Hehe, sorry to hear that. If you want everyone to make it through you'll need to upgrade the ship and choose people for tasks carefully in the suicide mission.

On the Normandy, you need the armor plating (which you can ask Jacob about), the shields (from Tali), and the cannon (from Garrus, which you said you got). Each one that you're missing will kill off a crew member, as you saw.

Jacob is not a specialized technician, so he can't really handle the door. Tali and Legion are the best choices here. Grunt is big and strong, but he's a pretty poor leader - so Miranda, Garrus, and Jacob are good choices to lead a team. If someone gets swarmed by the bugs, that means your biotic field generator was a bad choice - the strongest biotics are Samara and Jack.

So yeah, it's not exactly easy to get the team through if you don't know what you're doing.

Hmm I picked Miranda for my botic choice, didn't know there was much a difference in who I picked. Thanks for the into

and I only told Jacob to go through the vent, because he offered

Haha, Jacob doesn't know his own limitations I guess. The key idea is just to pick the most specialized people - Jacob is tech/biotic, whereas Tali and Legion are purely focused on tech and thus a great choice to do the hacking.

I had Legion do the ducts and he died by the door anyway and yes I had his Loyalty. Idk why the hell he died. He was the ONLY one on my team that died, so irritated!

I thought about throwing Tali or Legion in there, but in the last game, there was a similar line about whether Ash or Kaiden would be qualified to rig a bomb, and it didn't matter either way. I figured the specialist was marked for death, so I just sent Thane (might as well go out in style if he's gonna die anyway).

You telling me that if I sent someone more qualified then I would've had no casualties?

I thought Jacob was Combat/Biotic? He doesn't seem to have any Tech skills (even though he did in Mass Effect Galaxy). Also to the OP, who was the leader of the team when you put Jacob in the vent? A lot of people are beginning to think that plays a factor in the Vent person surviving. In that they have to be loyal and a good choice.

I think the same also applies for the Swarm part, whomever is diversion leader has to be a good choice and loyal and the biotic has to be loyal and in case of anyone but Samara has to have their biotics upgraded. Though this is just speculation

That's the thing... The people who "volunteer" aren't usually the one's who are the best choice.

Yeah, Miranda's claims about her Biotics are a bit far fetched. The Storylines themselves show, in action, that Samara/Morinth and Jack are the superior Biotics no matter what prissy little Miranda thinks. I'd say off hand Samara/Morinth is the best choice, just by their absolutely stunning display of Biotic powers on missions related to them. Jack shows tons of power, but it's much more brute force and . . . tons of power is relative. I'd say Jack is easily the best Human Biotic in the Galaxy, but she still doesn't hold a candle to Samara/Morinth.

Generally, having qualifications means you are better at things...so yes.:P

Tali or Legion are the best choices

The divisions with combat/tech/biotic aren't quite as clear in this game as in the first, I think.  From a skill/weapons perspective I would have to agree with you that he seems to be combat/biotic.  However, he must have technical ability as well in order to be a choice for the vent - you're not allowed to choose anyone non-technical.

lol I had the same thing, Legion died, and jack died when i picked her as a leader later on, guess I'll play through it again to get the badge. Maybe this time with a Male Sheppard. By the way anyone know who the romance chains are for a female Shepard?

Indeed, though this isn't always the case.  For example, Miranda volunteers to lead the other team at the doors and she is one of the best choices.

Who did you have leading the other team?  I'm pretty sure a poor choice of leader can also cause your vent choice to take a rocket in the face.

It's not a set in stone deal. Tali and Legion can both still die in that role. There are more factors besides whether it's their speciality. Loyalty factors, and who escorts them factors as well.

I had Legion do the same thing but he lived.

I just hope that the speculation that people are developing for the vents situation is true, because with my femshep am going to be sending Miranda or Garrus in there with the other one leading the fire team. They'll both be loyal and I'll have made sure I have all the tech upgrades (namely coz my femshep is infiltrator so it is important even for my shep that it is upgraded). Besides the good leader choice am wondering if the % of the vent runners health plays a fact into it too? ie. gets below say 20% they die as too nervous/drained to do the tech thing.

I'm not so convinced that that is going to work.  I haven't heard of anyone getting through the vents without a casualty unless they used either Tali or Legion to do the hacking.

When you send someone through the vent, no matter how good or loyal they are, if the second team is not led by a good leader who is loyal, they will die.

Also Zaeed is a bad leader.
