In the suicide mission, TIM contacts you about the base.

Did you guys keep it or destroy it?  I  am leaning towards destroy but  I don't want to make the wrong choice.

Destroyed in one play through. Kept it in one play through. Morinth killed in another play through, and I decided to stop playing it instead of reloading. Seemed like that Shepard deserved to die, and not be reloaded for being the dumb. :)

Really though, we won't know until ME3, if it was a good choice or not.

I told him to screw off and blew it up. I'll keep it in my renegade Shepard since it's a renegade option (bottom-right convo after all)

I blew it to hell. Fire is pretty and explosions are fun. Not even Miranda thought keeping it was a good idea.

now the bottom right isn't always renegade.

I have noticed moments in which the "bad" choice was top right.

Or middle

I kept it in my first playthrough witch I've just completed hours ago, I'm on to my second playthrough and I'll destroy it in that one, just to see the different consequences. But I think that in the context of the game it would be better to destroy it despite the somehow good-sounding opinions of the Illusive Man about what it would represent to keep it, the thing is I don't think Cerberus will give hugs and roses to the Alliance and share "the whole thing" with "humanity", it's more like "share with Cerberus and for Cerberus", but my Shepard in that first playthrough has some "Renegade" in her, not a lot, but enough to take harsh actions and sudden surprising decisions at times, I play role and I believe that's what she would have done anyhow, so I kept it.

My second character is more Paragon-focused, so he'll destroy it.

Destroy it. It's an abomination. As I said in another thread, if a place can be evil, then the Collector base is truly evil.

destroyed it, however the Shepard I'm currently playing as supports TIM and will keep it, hopefully the two will have quite different galaxies in the second game I was hoping for more differences based on the first game in this, but maybe in the third.

More than likely if you're paragon through the series you'll manage to win through a massive allied fleet in ME3. Renegades will win with their own reaper(s). Just my two cents.

I kept it. What person in their right mind would throw away the best chance of understanding and countering the reapers?

My Paragon saved it. That place is incredible. I never destroy what I can take for myself. I also saved the Krogan Cure data and did not destroy the Geth base/heretics.

I blew that **** up. I don't trust Cerberus, and I can't allow that technology to fall into the wrong hands. When the Reapers come... it will be a galaxy of allied species that destroys them, not human-controlled Reapers.

I blew it away. I can only imagine what TIM would have done with it, if he kept it. I can only imagine him continuing the project using more humans (even if they were "dead", like the excuse they provided for the "Colony of the Dead" mission in ME1) and making a mess of the third game, when they realize the real Reapers have the master override code to everything. Hell, EDI didn't catch the Reaper IFF problem, and she was supposed to be the most advanced anti-Reaper AI program created for the Normandy.

Keep a factory that turns humans into genetic paste and putting it into the hands of the galaxy's most crookedly zealous humanitarian? Seems like a bad idea to me.

Then again, this sounds a lot like the Dark Ritual Dragon Age ending that will probably bite us in the ass for the next game. The Mass Effect 2 one seems more decidedly evil, however.

I kept it, but then told illusive man that it should only be used to fight reapers and then cut him off council style.

Honestly destroying it might be a bad idea in the long run considering it could prove considerably useful against Harbinger and the rest of the Reapers. But giving it to the Illusive man might not be the best way to go he just has a look of pure evil on his face when I gave it to him. But I believe you can choose not to give it to TIM.

But honestly It probably won't matter just like saving the council or killing the council didn't seem to do anything either way they didn't help you at all.

These (incidentally, blowing it up is the paragon option-so says the guide)

I was seriously torn up about it and eventually did blow the place up, but continued to be torn up about it, then TIM said something like "that base could have ensured human dominance against the reapers and beyond" and then I knew with certainty that I'd made the right choice, "right" meaning as far as what my character believes in holds, although it'll quite possibly mean fighting the reapers is much harder, it's the only choice my Shep could ever live with. Like legion says, you can have your future given to you or you can build it.... and in this case I think it was a choice between what's easy and what's right

I destroyed the station and quit.

Why??

1) TIM would start his own reaper, using aliens.

2) 37 million year old "Dead" reaper still "dreamed" enough to take over humans.

3) I was paragon, and didn't see using the liquefy beings to make stuff technology as a good idea.

4) Using Reaper technology is what makes organic life develop along certain predictable lines, allowing them to be harvested by the Reapers.

This is cut and pasted from what I posted in another thread, but it speaks well here so didn't retype.

There's just too many loose ends with keeping it. Relic Reaper/Collector AI hanging around dormant in the system, the nightmare-level ethical issues, never mind how untrustworthy TIM is. Plus getting to tell TIM you're finished with all the bull**** he's put you through is priceless.

I'm even leaning towards blowing it up with my renegade Shepard, too.

Don't do it! Don't give that evil bastard what he wants! EDI took all relevant information from the base before you blew it up, don't hand it over to someone whose only though is to further his own agenda. He'll spout the "for the good of humanity" bull**** line, but don't buy it. He wants it for himself, he couldn't give a damn about humanity. Remember Akuze? Remember Admiral Kahoku? **** Cerberus.
