When Wrex is not killed he serves as the Urndot Clan Leader that tries to reunite the Krogans I'd say it's a huge decision because it'll probably decide whether the Krogans help in the Reaper War in 3.
As for Conrad I can't remember if I blew him off or not, but he pretends to be Shepard while you've been dead for 2 years of course making a complete arse of himself.

Conrad makes an appearance again in ME2. I did the Paragon path with him in both ME1 and ME2. The resolution you can hear as a news announcement. He finally gives up trying to be a SPECTRE and opens up a foundation to help citizens from various attacks and veteran alliance soldiers to get back on their feet.
