On the final mission, I went in with all crew loyal, all Normandy upgrades, and every other preparation I could think of. Near the end, Zaeed took a bullet and died. Now sure, I would be more torn up if it were Miranda, Garrus, or someone else but I still didn't mind the old hardass. And I like my completionist achievements. Zaeed was squad leader while I had Jack do the biotic barrier bubble. Did he die due to a poor choice on my part? Was it luck? Did I take too long? I thought his experience leading the Suns would pay off, yet he still died.
Any advice would calm my mind.

He did die because you chose him. He's not a very good leader (neither is Grunt, just fyi).
Miranda and Garrus seem to be pretty reliable in that part of the mission.

Thanks. I suppose I should have thought more about how the whole Blue Suns thing turned out for him, huh?

The thing you have to remember with regard his leading of the suns is, he was betrayed, so he wasn't that good a leader. That is my interpretation as to why he will fail in that task.

I used Jacob for the first fire team. It seemed like most people liked Jacob over Miranda and he was a marine like me. I was a little worried when it appeared Thane was on his team. The ONE guy Jacob seems to have a problem with. But they both survived. I was relieved.
