I didnt actually lose anyone first playthrough i nterms of squad, although i lost my crew though. But im interested to know how it is team mebers die..and what they say or do. As in, is it off screen and implied, or do you actually see them die, and do they say anything?

So, anyone hwo lost team members, how did it happen and what did they say? Any of them really emotional for you? Probably not gonna happen but...any videos of this happening?

Here's the bloodbath ending, where everyone including Shepard dies:

I did a couple test runs through the mission, and here is my list of deaths I encountered (everyone was loyal):

1) Garrus took a rocket in the face because he couldn't close the door.

2) Grunt took a bullet and died after leading the second firing squad.

3) Zaeed took a bullet and died after leading the second firing squad.

4) Jack was carried away by the swarm insects because Thane was too weak to push them away with his biotics.

I didn't lose any of the team members during my play through with my paragon soldier. I did lose Kelly, which actually bothered me more. Going to try on the 2nd play through to see if she is saveable somehow. Seeing her dragged into the elevator really ... bothered me.

What I want to know is what I did wrong with the relationships. Since my imported character had liara in the 1st game, I tried to get Samara. Didn't work. In fact, when I started the suicide mission all Shephard did was go to her cabin and look at a picture of liara, despite the fact I had been actively trying with samara. Got loyalty with every character and made sure to avoid any hints that I was advancing relationship with anyone else. During a conversation with her she did say the Code allowed her to have romance so I assumed she was a viable potential.

Oh well :)

Samara isn't actually a romance option. You can get pretty close, but she shoots you down at the end.

You can save Kelly. It all depends on what you do after the IFF mission.

^ Wow okay so there is a few different ones for sure, did they have any scenes or talk or anything?

Im really interested to see how many ways your team can die, and what they say exactly. Im hoping Mordin says he held the line if he dies.

So did any of those characters have their moment before passing, or was it fast and not much into it.

Thanks, im determined to find out every death and what the say, interesting to see.

I guess you just can't make some of them leaders because they're just too wild.

I don't think they necessarily kill Kelly when they drag her into the elevator. I rescued her from the ship and she survived. I think, could be wrong, that the girl from Engineering got gooped though. Didn't check once I'd completed it to be honest.

Other deaths for me were Thane shot in the face and Grunt stolen by bugs. My crew was loyal, the ship upgraded. I'm wondering if I needed better weapons and equipment tech.

The tech specialist assigned to close the door after the vents doesn't have dialogue. There will just be a rocket in the face and they fall. Shepard kneels by them, but ultimately nothing is said.

The 2nd firing team death will have the dead person give a short speech about it. I remember Zaeed says something like "I always figured it would end something like this." They're simply left there as well.

The person carried off by the swarm insects will struggle and scream, but that's about it. No real dialogue there. It's fun to watch that one, though.

If you saved Kelly, then you also saved both of the engineers. The girl you see dying in Kelly's place is Lilith, the woman from the Horizon colony.

The amount of Normandy (non-playable) crew that dies depends on how long you wait to go through the Omega-4 relay. If you doddle, collecting resources, doing quests, etc. they will die. The best option is to get sidequests out of the way before the Reaper IFF mission (or wait until after the endgame) and save your crew immediately after they are abducted.

Ok since I beat the game once, PLEASE tell me what I did wrong! lol

When I got to the collector ship she was in a tube and got liquified with no option to save her.

I got the IFF mission done earlier in the game, then went off and did some team mate side missions.  It was when I was finishing up my last one on tuchanka (sp?) that it triggered the collector attack.

So I should do the IFF last I'm guessing?  I was going for the paragon we-all-don't-die ending so was trying to get all the upgrades before I hit the omega-4 relay.

Hrmmm, let's see.

Jack was killed before we even landed at the Collector's base. She was hit by a stray laser. Was pretty bummed about that. Wanted her to survive. She was loyal and we had the sex... not sure what I did wrong.

Then: Zaeed was shot trying to lead the second team, Samara was taken away by a swarm, Mordin was shot down in the last sequence, Tali was also killed. Forget how. I pretty much lost half of my squad. I never got the chance to recruit Legion. Missed him.

If none of them are loyal, do they all die and you fight the Reaper alone?

the leaders should be either miranda/garrus or jacob

So I didn't max paragon points in my first playthrough and couldn't appease both Miranda and Jack (but was able to defuse the Tali/Legion dispute). So, Miranda lost loyalty. Normandy had all available upgrades, so nobody died until I got onto the Collector base.

With Miranda leading the 2nd team and Legion going through the vents, Legion took a rocket to the face and died.

Then, with Grunt escorting the rest of the crew, Jack doing the biotic barrier, and Zaeed leading the 2nd team, Zaeed took one in the stomach.

I'm not sure how Bioware determines who dies and who doesn't, though. I would have expected Miranda to die or something because of her loyalty status but I guess there's probably some fudge factor?

I'm going to try it different and see if I can save everyone.

Does anyone know what happens if you reload a previous save for the Suicide mission ? Does the old endgame(carry over save) gets overwritten by the newest one?

Anybody dying in the spaceship battle cut scene dies because you skipped an upgrade. At points in that fight Joker will say something like, "Phew, good job we got that armour" or such like, and maybe it'll cut to show a member of the crew, that's where you find out that if you didn't have it, that person would be dead.

I lost Jack to the bugs not exactly sure why. Had the Cerberus chick holding up the field thinking that could be it,you know the whole them not getting along thing. If anyone knows for sure how to get through without losing anyone I would be thankful for tips I don't want to lose her again (R.I.P. Jack).

If you do sidequests AFTER the crew is abducted, then the crew dies because you took too long to prepare. Dr. Chakwas should say something about that after you save her. Basically to save the crew and Kelly you need to go through the relay immediately after they are abducted.

I had everyone survive all the way through, but then when Joker said "all survivors are on the ship" it turned out Mordin had randomly died at some point. So I went back and used him to kill the Reapernator.

On a related note, I'd like to point out how utterly useless the Prima guide is for figuring this type of thing out. I thought they did a decent job with the ME1 guide, but this one is garbage. It only contains really basic information that anyone who's played the game will already have figured out themselves and spends most of its time with hand-holding play-by-play of the missions (e.g. go down this hallway, shoot that guy, etc); no stats, no game mechanics, barely any secrets or missable stuff.

For this particular part of the game just after the Reaper IFF mission, they actually *recommend* that you waste time doing sidequests to level up and collect resources to buy upgrades, not mentioning at all that this will get your crew killed.

As for what happens when you skip upgrades, each time one of the upgradable systems is needed and isn't there, one team member is killed.  This can happen up to three times (I think; I'm going to do some testing tomorrow).

For me, I lost two members with all of them loyal and ship fully upgraded. It went:

1) Legion dies closing the door. Zaheed was the leader.

2) Jack dies as the diversionary attacker, saying something along the lines of "Why'd you have to make me care? /slumpdeath".
