Alright so here's the deal, I'm quite anxious to try out this title and all, sadly the only thing I'm able to play it on is my laptop.
I've managed to play several high-end games fine even though my CPU was lacking (the rest of my specs are fine, really), sometimes I encounter a game where it simply does not cope well with it.

According to the minimum specs of the website I'll need an Intel Core 2 with at least 1.6 GHz.
Whereas mine is the following: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5250 @ 1.50GHz (2 CPU's), ~ 1.5GHz.
As said before, normally I can play games just fine even though according to the system requirements it's a bit low (Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Prototype etc I can play perfectly fine with a steady 40/60 FPS), yet some don't.
Seeing as the difference between the minimum GHz needed and the one I have is so borderline close i've been in doubt for quite a while.

In short, would it be a high risk to try and buy this title with the chance of it not working/running slow?

Yes, that is a very weak, slow CPU.

Hasn't anyone ever convinced you to recognize that the GPU is 50 to 60% of game performance?

What is your GPU, total RAM, and OS version?

Thanks for your reply Gorath,

I am aware it is slow and quite weak (so far it has been the only downfall in basically all the games I have not been able to play), however the warranty on my laptop has not expired yet so I will not replace it for now, as said before I -have- been able to play quite some 'high-end' games on it however; successfully.
Furthermore I'm not expecting any high graphic gaming on this, if I'd be able to run it properly windowed and on lowest settings I'd be happy already.

My GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS, Direct X 10 compatible with 512 MB Memory, so far it has proven itself quite powerful.
My total RAM would be 2046 RAM and I'm sporting Vista.

I had the same concern as you and I think you should definitely get it! From how its running on my system (my system specs are somewhat similar to yours, see the post I linked above) you should be able to play on medium graphics at the LEAST if not high!

To beat a dead horse....

I installed Dragon Age on a Gateway M 6850-FX laptop with a T5550 1.83GHZ dual core, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600, with 3GB of ram, on Win 7, and it played poorly. (I'm guessing sound card / hdmi port on vid card, but I digress), then installed the game on a machine with the following specs: P4-HT 3.0GHZ, 2GB ram, Radeon HD 3650 AGP (yes AGP) Win XP.... The game played great on medium settings on the P4 system, while it had unplayable issues on the T5550 (1.83 duo core 2) system set at lower settings...... I am not attempting to provide a solution, just providing my experience.
