I loved RTO

the only thing i found dissapointing was the terrain , i hoped it would all take place downstairs on the battleground , but i did love the tower and tunnel part
and the bosslvl ogre was a bit easy (on normal at lvl 17)

FYI, the tunnel part that you loved was just a recycled ruin map from the Dalish origin.  *sigh*

From a storytelling perspective, the concept of RtO is wonderful.

classical story structure - ending where you begin - has a certain symmetry and beauty to it. It was fascinating to think about how much the Warden and his/her companions had grown and what all they had gone through together since that time.

There were some nice moments. Like somone else mentioned, I teared up at the brutality of Cailan's death and I did feel a lot of rage at the Genlock Necromancer for bringing the ogre that killed the king back to life. The conversations between Wynne and Alistair were interesting insights into their characters as well. Other than that, it was a bit lackluster.  And wtf, the chalice? That should have at least given you a little flash back - a little recognition that you just found an object from a turning point in your characters life.

I was expecting Morrigan to make some comment but she says nothing. Then naturally, she disapproved when we burned Cailans body out of respect. I was reeeeeally thankful for the slap Morrigan mod after that. <_<

But the fact that the Warden didn't find Duncan's body...  That is really creepy to me.

I love Bioware and this game but after waiting that extra time and having my specializations messed up by that patch i was extremely dissappointed by the content or lack thereof in RTO. If there is more $5 dlcs i will be very hesitant on downloading them. I was just wondering how other people felt.

Fair enough if you were not happy with the download then not buying more of them is a perfectly reasonable response.

I enjoyed it.  A good addition to the Dragon Age adventure in my opinion.  It was fun revisiting the old areas and learning a few interesting plot twists.

Quite satisfying for $5.00. I'm still baffled why it took so long to get out the door if the PC version was done weeks ago. The banter between Wynne and Alistair was priceless, though got a little weird at the end. I'm looking forward to future DLCs that play off some of the events hinted at in RtO.

Wasn't too disappointed because I had a pretty good idea of what I would be getting. It was nice to see Ostagar again, and the place had lots of atmosphere to it. I was too high level for the fights to be challenging at all, though. Wynne/Alistair banter was fun.

Cutscenes were mostly just cutpaste from battle of Ostagar, which annoyed me a bit. But my biggest disappointment was the chalice. It should have had a cutscene or at least triggered a discussion with Alistair when you give it to him. Instead you just get the standard "ooh, is that for me" line. *rolls eyes* C'mon, it was the goddamn Joining Chalice, it should have triggered a memory or two!

Other than that, got my money's worth I guess.

I think that it was a bad idea to do DLC that has a direct link to the main story-line. It can mess up so many things, and leave people scratching their heads about story, companion development, companion depth, and so forth. The main story NPCs can't react to Ostagar, simply because it's DLC, and it would seriously mess  up the main game for those who don't want it. Imagine someone (like me) who isn't impressed by the DLC at all, and therefore won't buy it, hearing things from NPCs that is directly tied to Return to Ostagar. It would make no sense, and mess everything up quite badly.

Things that should have been done in the DLC can't be done without messing up the main story for those who don't want the DLC. Heck, depending on when the player has their PC marching to Ostagar, it might even warrant a re-write of the main story.

As for OOC companions, that alone makes me stay away from RtO. Personally, I play it for story-line, story and character development, and interactions. So this is a "Thank you, but no thank you" for me.

As for the excuse "Maybe they didn't have the original voice-actors/they were too expensive", I'm sure that there is enough dialogue available to splice together at least a few comments from prior recordings.

All in all, perhaps they should've considered doing a non-main-story-line DLC such as WK. The letters and notes about Orlais could've been worked into the main story, it would've been much better that way, imo.

As for the low, low price, I refuse to be nickeled and dimed to death. Those euros will go into the piggy bank to save up for Awakenings, or I'll go to the media-markt and dive into their bargain bin for older but still very fun games.

Even after the long wait I was not disappointed at all! I enjoyed the layout of the DLC, the content, dialogue, & I feel it was well worth $5 dollars! I thought it was plenty of content for $5, fortunately I am yet to experience the few bugs mentioned by others which I am very thankful for.

I really enjoyed the dialogue between my companions. I don't blame some for feeling so disappointed though, I mean we did have to wait a while & got a couple broken promises :(

The only gripe I have is that I went to Redcliffe (for the first time) after RtO. I have Alistair wearing the newly recovered royal armor and weapon set. Does anybody, including Teagan, say anything? Nnnnnnooooooooo! It doesn't even get referenced (at least not so far). That's what I don't like... makes as much sense as when Lord Harrowmont gives you a mage staff.
(yes, I know, he never wields it, but still...)

This. 1000 times this.

I have Ali going around in Cailan armor and shield, wielding Maric's sword, and nobody say anything about it.
I have not reached Landsmeet yet after RtO, but at this point I won't expect any comment on it.

I'm a sad panda.

I liked RtO,but it seemed like it was over far too quickly.I would've liked a little more input from the companions, especially Alistair.A conversation regarding what happened when the group returned to camp would have been nice, but you know.

Having said that,I <3 Cailan's armour and Maric's sword.Very nice. :3

I liked it, and wasn't disappointed at all. Sure, there's always the hunger for "MOAR!" when it comes to these things, but it was enough to not feel like a ripoff.

Also, Duncan is clearly still alive.

This is a general problem with the DA:O DLCs. I have my character walking around Orzamar with Shale and nobody seems to be surprised at seeing a golem a few centuries after the last of them have been lost.

I really enjoyed Return to Ostagar honestly. I have all the DLC up to this point and $5 for it seemed like a good deal- especially for a game I love so much. I will now hit it, Honneleth and Warden's Keep each playthrough which adds considerable playtime to my game. I'm not a fan of paying for DLC- but I support Bioware and I also appreciate more content being released. I thought Return to Ostagar was very fun, I have few complaints.

One thing that annoyed me was the further confusion about age - Eamon writes that Anora is almost thirty. Her toolset age is twenty-three, which surely makes more sense, unless you assume that Loghain's toolset age (fifty) is also out. Her appearance and behaviour also make me think that twenty-three is more likely.

I suppose a little more interaction between Alistair and the PC would have been nice, since it was where everything started. The loot was nice, though, and finding Cailan was much more poignant than I'd expected. Nifty armor and loot.

However, if you're in a romance with Alistair and have both him and Wynne in your party, the end is a bit unnerving. During that dialogue I just wanted to say "Guys? <i>I'm right here!</i>"

I said this else-thread, but I got that right after having the discussion where Wynne tells me I should back off Alistair because I'm a Grey Warden and he might get hurt (right after as in, on the way to Ostagar), then suddenly she's hitting on him.  It was just too ironic, one of those game serendipities.  I wish I could see the "WTF!!!" look on my PC's face at that exchange.

I've never tried RTO before the Landsmeet but that disappoints me as well. How sad that no one recognizes or comments that you or someone in your party is wielding the sword of the man who freed Ferelden.
