I always spend too much time creating characters, I mean, I can sit there for HOURS trying to create a character that's true to my vision of them.

I am actually pretty happy with how my dwarf came out. Normally you can't change much on dwarves due to the beardproblem, but due to a "bugged" preset there is quite much you can do as long as you can accept the beard my dwarf has. And no, dwarves NEED beards, no way I'm creating one without.
So, here's Muradin. My Noble Dwarf!

First I thought I should post my other 3 chars too, but after looking at them again I kinda feel like they don't really... live up to what I imagined them to be. That means I need to recreate the two that I've only done the Origin-story with... again! xD The third I'm quite happy with, but she's kind of average-looking.

This is the most realistic dwarf I've seen, that isn't exaggerated, definitly beautiful and well designed, you can tell this dwarf is noble, and you don't see too many dwarfs like this in the game, I wish there was more designs like this, really good job

@Virus Cat

You really inspired me to give a Dwarf character a shot.

I'm not a big fan of Dwarves across all fantasy genre's, but I'm so sick of creating elves that I had to at least try to make a dwarf that would suit me. I wanted to give my Dwarf a less standard appearance, meaning well-groomed, sharp-angles, and overall like a short human.

I know this character won't appeal to most Dwarf enthusiasts, and I of course just made him for a bit of fun, but here is my Dwarf Aelan Aeducan:

Thanks guys, I'm almost blushing here ;D

Stippling: I like it! I mean, I truly think fantasy dwarves should have beards, that's their thing, but it's interesting when people go against it and make more interesting non-classical characters!

Edit: Figured I might as well post the first char I was happy with. She might be a bit too ordinary (?) but I truly love how she turned out. This is Maiya, the first character I finished the game with :)

Image IPB
Only used Pineapple's and More Hairstyles at that point.

I also made an elf yesterday that's a bit different from how I usually make them. Big lips, huuuuge eyes, and maybe not very "cute" :P  But I like her look.... but at the same time I don't. She's "special".

Someone needs to fix the freaking topic name. It's "Character", not "Charater".

Are we still considered "pretty" if we don't use any mods? Probably not :?

Sresla: I think so! For myself I prefer to use at least Pineapple's (for more skincolors mostly) and More hairstyles since I think BioWare did a POOR job with the hair in the game. But I do admire people that can make pretty characters without these or other mods!

Ken55: Yeah, I like to make the characters kind of realistic and then BAM they have these stunning eyes ;P Best thing with her eyes is that they only "shine" like that in specific ligthning so she looks perfectly "normal" in most scenes. Like a hidden trait ;D

it's taken me a while to really start using all the mods available. My mage had a modded hairstyle but thats all, my rogue didn't have any mods until recently when i stuck a new hairstyle on her. I've just created a new char that uses quite a few though... i'm not really sure about him yet but i'll put him on here when i've got some decent screenshots for you guys to review

Thankee.
Yeah, she's pretty nice (she's chasing after Leliana, after all) but with a bit of a cheeky side. You know, chatting up Iona and bragging about it to Fergus, spending a few gold in the Pearl on wenches... Yeah, she's not saintly ;)

He's really interesting, i always find dwarven faces to be the most difficult to work with simply because its so hard to make them look unique, and give them stand-out features.

Absolutely dear sir. When I try to make good looking characters, the last thing I touch is hairstyle or skin color or tones or anything else that'd be adjusted with a mod. The core to a good, unique, and otherwise attractive character is the facial features. The more you tinker with those, the better your character truly is. You can slap modded  tints and tones and a unique hairstyle on a generic face. It doesn't make it pretty, nor does it stand out from the masses.

When it doubt remember:

Mods exist to serve character creation, and never to rule over it.

Absolutely stunning. Perfect example of what I stated above. She used mods, but the facial structure, eye shape, narrow/wideness of the eyes, brows, cheeks, jaws, gaunt are what set this apart. I've seen plenty of characters with that hairstyle and with that eye color. But this one stands out because a) it's mochen and she's the best, and B) the effort on the face.

I like your design.

Personally, I think it takes more skill when you make a design without mods and make it look better than the ones that use mods. Not to mention the fact that there is something "pure" about character designs that don't use much exterior mods.

I made a human male mage, and realised I had an Alistair-copy-ish guy. Ew! Scrapped him fast and made another one, much more interesting! I realized that all my chars have had nose jobs, so I made sure the guy got a characteristic nose instead of the plastic perfect one all my other chars have. It's not THAT much different, but still a little, and it makes a difference.

Got a screenshot of them both, almost identical moment in the starting scene.

So, my new Medivh (scrapped the one you can see on my profile, he looked way to mean for the neutral path I had planned, saving him there for the looks however, he's cool ;D)

You guys have to agree that the right one is more interesting? :D

@VirusCat, the guy on the left looks like he'd be a great redesign for Anders from DA:Awakening

The guy on the right looks like he has some Bann Teagan in him. :P

Eww, not another Alistair companion! I thought I was getting rid of him! Don't do that to this poor DA Redesigned-fan :D

And yes, he does have some Teagan in him! Used a Teagan-preset for him to make sure I got some different features since I always end up with the same ones using the original presets. I'm so horrible at making characters different :(

But yeah... figured YOU of all people should see it :P How much time have you spent looking at those faces to make the redesignes peeeerfect? :D

(I'm ninjakissen from DA Nexus btw)

Haha, I'm not into the Chantry nonsense either. :alien:

P.S. I'm hiding in this section of the forums until I play Awakening. It's to the point now where spoilers may rear their ugly faces, so I'll stick with the pretty faces here until I'm finished.
