That's not really the argument at hand here. There's been numerous inspirations, imitations, and flat out copies in this thread. And there's nothing wrong with that as long as both parties are okay with it. In this case Mochen would like it to stop with her designs, and so it should. But let us get out of hand with this until Petehog has a chance to comment and explain.
For myself personally, I will gladly a) accept inspired work,

He just likes to do faces as a hobby, and he does tons of them, so he accidentally rubbed Mochen the wrong way this once. He most likely wasn't even thinking about it.
@ Old Yellow Egg:
She eerily resembles a friend... oh god she drives me bat**** insane. But... why did you strip her...?
@ Otter:
Wowie. How do ppl take such high-res screenshots? My settings are all on max but my pictures come out fuzzier.

I just wanted to offer a formal apology.
There is nothing that Presence or Mochen did to provoke me.
They have actually been very supportive and kind.
I’m just a person who has a lot of time on his hands and I just enjoy making character designs. My alias is actually Dracomies from Dragon Age Nexus.
I like this particular part of the forum because it gives me inspiration, ideas, and there are a lot of things to learn here.
When I looked through the forums, Mochen and Presence’s designs quickly caught my eye. To be honest, they’re one of the best I’ve seen.
I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could reconstruct those designs.
And honestly, I don’t know why I did it. But I think it’s sort of become like a weird habit of mine.
Let me elaborate.
Whenever I play Dragon Age Awakening or Dragon Age, I basically look at a character and try to match how they look like and put it on the toolset.
Once you’ve done this for a while, it becomes a dorky habit….
I honestly don’t even know why I did it but I think I just found myself just doing it.
I looked at the two designs and I wanted to see whether I could do what I do in Dragon Age Redesigned…same deal…just look at them and see if I can recreate them on the toolset.
To be honest, my replicated designs are nowhere near as good as the originals.
It’s just a really dorky habit and as I look back..I can see how it sends a wrong message.
Once again, I wanted to apologize.
You have my word that this won’t happen again.
I feel a bit awkward so I think this most likely will be my last post in this particular part of the forum.
But once again, my sincere apologies
Dracomies:(

It's not like he claimed it was his own design. Honestly I can't believe someone would have a hissy fit over something like that.Stippling wrote...

As far as purple haired characters go (in dragon age? lol) his version looks more "real" imo.

Oh I agree that he didn't claim it as his own per se. But in the world of creativity, the lack of a claim of ownership does not necessarily correlate with a lack of plagarism. If that were so, there'd be many college essays with strange familiarity to them.
It's not a hissy fit at all. It's a legitimate concern.
A lot of us have been posting characters and designs here for a long time now. It's a tight-knit little community and it's just an expectation of trust and collaboration that we've all come to know and anticipate. This post was perceived to be a 1up without the subsequent post by Petehog that acknowledges the desire to practice imitation of designs.
This explanation was all that was really needed in the first place, and had it been said, "Hey guys, I was practicing my recreation ability for my mods. Do you think I was able to come close to your designs? What did I miss?" I think Petehog never meant to cause the upset. He's one of the more respected names in DA morphs.
Personally, I don't believe Petehog did anything "wrong", but I do think that these creators had a reasonable expectation of ownership.
We need to communicate better with one another if we want this group to flourish rather than falter. And believe me when I say that none of us want you to feel embarrased or leave Pete, just as we do not want Mochen (or Presence) to feel upset or overshadowed.

I wait for the convo-triggers and take a screen shot. Or go in a corner and rotate the camera to take the close-up. I crop it in Paint. Basic, but it works.

Apology accepted. To be honest, I was rather confused by your original post, so I'm very glad we got this matter settled now. It's no reason to stop posting here, though.
@Elastic Otter
Very Orlesian indeed! And pretty, too, good work.
@kopitestu79 and Axekix
Please don't quote pictures that are on the same page... especially not in the previous post. Having loads of similar pictures of the same character in a row is rather unnecessary.
@i4gotmyid
Your Xenethala pic is not showing.
PS. I uploaded pictures of my decent and half-decent creations in my album here, so they're all in one place now, in case someone's interested.
PPS. I'd love to see some dwarven male designs, casteless especially...

@ All - I'm not having a 'hissy fit', I just take pride in my characters.
I might not post here for a while either, I do feel rather humiliated by some of the comments and comparisons on here. I put quite a lot of work into my designs and I guess I'm more passionate about them than I thought. Ah well.

Not that I wish to add fuel to this absolutely ridiculous discussion but for the record I thought your version was superior.
@mochen If your recent edit was based on my comment please do not feel offended, I like 'em both but just prefer Petehogs' version. I don't see why either of you two would not continue to post characters as you both have an amazing talent at it!

i wouldnt worry about it to much, it's easy to pick at others faults then do better themselves, i mean the forum police had a go at me for qouting pictures in my post.
i'm still a fan of your work Mochen, love your creations at the end of the day it's that YOU have fun doing it, and you like them, everyone else can cram it walnuts

I asked politely a very reasonable request. But perhaps you are right... You picked my fault of "policing" the forum very eagerly, but obviously did not even consider if there was any reason behind my request.kopitestu79 wrote...

The general atmosphere in this thread has turned... bad, repulsive even.

This topic has some really great character designs in it, would be a real shame for it to turn into a flamefest.

Petehog, you should just remove the pics of the copied character from your upload site. That way, they're gone from your post, and from the posts of anyone who copy/pasted/quoted your pic links.

@Juleiila this city elfess is marvellous, beside the color of her eyes - dunno I think a brown/green colour would fit better.
@suicider_11 looks nice - can we have a front shot from her ??
@ElasticOtter just wow - very beautiful -and Isolde is .. ugly against her ;P
@Oldyellow Egg - I think she isn't to Gothic - I like chars who are a bit outstanding of the mass and definitive she is one of them
