yeah, not terribly happy with most of my toon's appearances anymore *shrug*. got a little bored with my mage's scar / tat / hair, and my rogue / former avatar has chin problems. and I'll probably redo half of my other saves because by the time I get to their playthrough, its been a couple of months and I don't like their appearance anymore.
ah well, gives me replay value. in a weird way

I'm working on a morph for a male dwarf, not sure if I'm very happy with him yet, I want him to look much older than he is currently and may combine the qunari with the dwarf or old texture, but I want him to have a ruddy/flushed look. This may be difficult ><
But, needless to say, this thread is inspiring, and I don't mean to come off as a head of fluff shouting empty praises at great artists. Just happy that you are all making me want to work more and harder at a fun hobby

Kindergarden? Where? I wanna play! :innocent:
@yasuraka.hakkyou
Exactly how it works for me too
Going back on topic, I'll give you all an ingame pic of Lynnore
Most peeps that actually care about my designs have probably seen it in my album already. But I can't stand the horrible look of the armors she has access too, so I won't show her much more until after Ostagar... which in her case may take months.

Some people like round faces, some small, some like full lips, some do not..
I personally prefer characters that look special, not realitylike, because it's a game and I see enough normal people when I'm not playing games. =)
Yet I don't like opulent hairstyles or anime characters, I don't like to animal-like characters, so.. It's just hard to say 'I don't like that..' 'Cause it's always ( okay, not always but most times ) not objective.
I might not post here a lot, but I have seen some of your characters and most of the time they fit my liking, so why should I criticize some small details, even tough I like the overall picture? When I want a character that fit's my liking a 100% - I'm doing it by myself.
I think it's very hard to discuss about liking.. well, you know where I want to get with that line.
Anyway, if you really care so much about it ( and if you can stand my horrible english ), I might criticize you next time, if I find something to. =)
Argh, it's really hard to express yourself in a foreign language.. just wanted to say 'Chin up!' or something.. you're good in character creation, so enjoy being praised - because most of us obviously think, you deserve it.
Edit:
Yeah, and btw I don't like her hair. It makes her forehead to small - which again makes the head look to small. See? Personal liking - I never liked that hairstyle

It's about different tastes yes. For example I don't generally like the sort of faces that mochen or y.h creates (surprise!) but I can see what they aim for and I think I can comment on how to improve that look. I can also appreciate their work on the looks and think they do amazing jobs. I would never use one of their chars in my games, but it doesn't mean I don't like their work.Spectre Piatch wrote...
But how can someone give truly constructive critisism (man, if you're not english, this word sucks ;__when it's about personal liking?

I can also suggest that they do something completely different and maybe they try it... and realize that they like the look of that!
Understand what I mean? It's always about taste, but I for example feel like I'm stuck. I hate that my chars end up looking the same over and over whatever base I start with, and I could use some pointers in directions that others would go.
mochen and y.h might suggest something they usually do, and while I'm not always too fond of faces like that, I might try what they suggest and suddenly find myself with something I would not have come up with myself.
I'm not english either, it's very hard to be literate in a different language than your own. Don't mind too much, peeps will probably understand you just fine. ^^Spectre Piatch wrote...

About your onstructive critisism - I might as well try another hairstyle on her! I loved in at the start, I usually don't use styles like that, but the more I play the more I see what you mean, and I might aswell fiddle around a bit more with her hair ^^ Thanks!

7thPhoenix: I think the jaws are a bit thin compared to the cheekbones. and in that side shot, the chkbnes also seem to pop out a bit much. EDIT: didn't even pick up on the neck /facepalm. also think about increasing nose depth, size, etc. makes me want to reach out a finger and try to phone home
and I commend all who post in english as their second language. I'm a native American, and I understand you all just fine.

Oh, shoot
@7th_Phoenix
Her neck is way too small. It makes her head look very alien-ish from the side (you know, the big-brained ones
Personally I would also lower her chin a bit, and make her iris larger

And one shot of Kenric... in the shadows, cause the lighting in Ostagar is
ridiculous and it irritates me to no end. :/

Feedback would be appreciated. Oh, and VirusCat I love Lynnore. At least from the side. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/sideways.png[/smilie]
Mind if I ask what you're focusing on with her face?

Thank you for the criticism. I was half asleep and half awake working on her -- I go to school full time. Like I said, she is a work in progress... the cheeks I'm iffy on but I was inspired by those of Kate Beckinsale's. Her corneas, eyes, neck, and nose definitely need work... I feel.

The cheeks that inspired me.

I don't want to make her look exactly like her but I would like to make her unique as possible without her becoming coequal. Realistically people have unique and interesting faces, and that's what I'm aiming for; however, feedback and criticism is welcomed and appreciated.

@ 7thphoenix - Try pulling her forehead in a bit too, and maybe raising her nose? that could work
mynineteenthtry really inspired me to have a go at the shaven headed look. So this my attempt.

@LadyAly: Really nice design on Sazuka. Very down to earth and realistic.
I took a 3rd shot at my Orlesian warden, aiming for a middle ground between the 1st and 2nd. I darkened her hair, tried to soften a few of her edges and toned the wrinkles back just a smidge. Yay/nay?

@mochen: sent you a message already with a more in-depth crit, I won't repost it here. One thing I just noticed, though: can you blend the scar better? I have that scar pack, I just haven't played with it much. I used the "T" scar on the cheek for my Dalish Elf, since it had the healed scar/brand look to it. I'd love it if you could blend the three stripes down to a more healed pink rather than the fresh angry red. Far less distracting that way; but I don't even know if the scars are in the toolset in a way that you can do that. Too lazy to check.
@7th_Pheonix: everything seems over-exaggerated in your current design. Maybe that's what you're going for. For me, its too much, & my eye wants to do the following: lower the chin to even out her face & give her more of a jaw, bring the lips "in" back towards the face some, maybe correct the overbite slightly, bring the nose in as well, & maybe soften the angles on it (though that depends a lot on the overall look that you're going for: a rounder, softer face or something with stronger lines & more angular features), & to make the eyes significantly smaller. Currently, she looks like she is in a constant state of *just* having heard that her dog died & is on the verge of tears. If the eyes scale back some & become more a unique & attention-getting part of her face rather than overwhelming it, that "emotion" that you've managed to instill in the face (specifically in the eyes & eyebrows) will become less cartoony (OHMYGODMYDOGDIED) & more realistic (a Grey Warden suffering under the weight of the task on her shoulders). Just my two cents, anyways.

Overall she's fine, I would personally lower the jaw a bit, and remove the lipstick since it makes her lips look very unreal.
@yeoldearche
Not really my type of eyes, but I like her mature look!
Kenric looks like a classic warriorman! I like how you dared give him a chin. Don't see many big chins here
And for Lynnore, I have no idea what I went for with her. I know what I want for the new one tho!
@mochen
Her mouth disturbs the overall tough feeling she has otherwise.
And I agree that the scar looks a bit odd when it's more a big wound than a scar
@Axekix
The left pic makes her look pretty bland, but the right one is very good! There her maturity shows well. A Yay from me!
@All
I have fibbled away my toolset save of Lynnore O_O I must have deleted it by mistake when I tried to move all my morphs to one place and delete all the copies.
Therefore I have to start a new human female morph. Blöh! Ohwell, maybe it's for the better.
I may also make a couple of peeps happy now: I found Aarya, I had backed her saves up and she's now restored. Still not have a toolsetversion so I can't change the things that bothers me, but since she's so pretty in pics I might actually play her sooner or later.

Speaking of looking uunreal I was having a bit of fun going to extremes with a copy of Kasha's face, which is much like my human mage. Ay minute now I expect the fade to come bursting out of her...

I think you tend to make the eyes a little too big. other than that, she's nice.
Thanks:) What can I say, it tends to keep the men looking me in the eye?...well except Zev, you know how he is:P I really just don't like them smaller, though I did forget to shrink her corneas back to a smaller size this time.
