been doing a bit of testing to see what kind of damage output the mage has. since there are no numbers ingame or in the manual (havent found any online either) figured i would do some checking.heres what i have so far:

all tests were with 37 spellpower and preformed on Wynn.
a tick seems to be 1sec
damage is 1/2 normal since it is done on party members in normal difficulty.

Flameblast 7 dam/5 ticks (35)
Lightning shock 26 dam
Death cloud 6 dam/15 ticks (90)
Cone of cold 20 dam +freeze (4secs? didnt check)
Blizzard 3 dam/19 ticks (57) + instant knockdown then slows
Fireball 23 dam + 4 dam/3 ticks (35) instant knockdown
Tempest 6 dam/15 ticks (90)
Inferno 8 dam/24 ticks (192)

inferno is high because there are several "double" ticks that happen during the spell.
all i have at the moment if anyone else has input i would like to hear it. i'll do some more tonight when i get off work.

edit:

new test
level 11, 37 spell power. target is ser landrey (yellow mob)
stonefist 39
stinging swarm 18 dam/8 ticks
winters grasp 45
lightning bolt 37
drain life 25
arcane bolt 39
walking bomb 9dam/14 ticks
virulent bomb 13dam/14 ticks
curse of mortality 4dam/14 ticks
crushing prison 13dam/12 ticks + hold

dont know why winters grasp is so high compared to lightning. could be resists on his part but it seems weird.
curse of mortality sucks worse than i though

Thanks, I love number stuff and will try some experiments tonight by blasting the heck outta my own characters.

Blizzard can also freeze by the way or at least I'm pretty sure I've been frozen by it.

Not entirely sure how you calculated the above. My mage doesn't have 37 spellpower yet (I'm not at the game, so can't say exactly what), but seems to be regularly doing 40+ points of damage with cone of cold. Throw a stone fist after you freeze 'em and watch 'em explode :-)

I would suspect he's on normal difficulty.  So double those numbers to see what is done to enemies.

correct those numbers are done on party members which means they are 1/2 of what they would do to mobs(normal difficulty). forgot to put that in there:blink:
those are "base" numbers; resistances or lack of will of course affect damage
even with the 1/2 damage it gives you (or at least me) a good idea of what the spells are capable of and their differences.

i was honestly surprise at how much more massive inferno is to the others. its more than double the damage of any of the other AE's. i'll try to do some mob tests tonight and get some numbers for the direct target spells. my mage has like 3 levels to use so i got enough points to max out any tree to test.
