I  thought Liara had become something completely different than the Liara from ME1, so I didn't really feel "guilty" pursuing Tali.  That was because I didn't get to hear her explanation.  That revelation is going to make things pretty interesting.  This whole thing could have been avoided if Tali was a LI in ME1, since I probably would've picked her from the start.

I think Liara and Tali both appeal to the good guy character, who likes the "nice girl". I thought they screwed up Liara in a big way in ME2 but both characters are perfect for the super paragon if you ignore the two minute Liara scene in ME2. I like Liara personally because I like her look and I thought the romance story was more gradual and natural in ME1.

don't be too hard on Liara. she has a lot on her plate. not to mention that she was the catalyst for your resurrection.

Liara has undergone a fairly radical transformation.

Keep in mind she apparently saw Shepard's shattered body and handed it over to Cerberus, of all people, in order to try and get him/her back.

The comics will hopefully explain it more in-depth than the game did. I suspect Liara has been fairly traumatized by the last two years.

Liara's transformation wasn't radical at all. She pretended to be the innocent little girl in the first game, but hell, she helped me wiping out a whole human colony and committing genocide against the rachni.

Anyways, it didn't hurt her character, finally she stands up and shows something. If she really would have been that innocent little princess, she wouldn't have helped to kill all those mercs and actually defeat the great threat.

Personally, I found this an improvement in her character.

I was one of the people that complained about Tali not being and LI in ME1. I think when they saw how much the fans wanted her Bio Ware did us a solid. Her love story in this game is just so deep. From the moment you first see her to the moment she is stuttering and twitching in front of you it was just perfect. I felt love for her on my end and this is just a game. While Liara is loyal to a fault I think Tali is actually in love with Shepard and has been for some time. She is clearly not the type to share, her own words, so she didnt try and step on Liara's toes but this is 2 years later and Liara is not around to stop her for at least telling you how she feels and going along with your decision. Tali for the win!

My Shepard stayed faithful (the new LI'S for femSheps didn't appeal to me), but I hope the comic series will explain Liara's "transformation" better.

I don't really like Tali.

The whole disconnect with Liara was rather annoying for me.  I just chalked it up to her effectively saying "I have too much on my plate now to handle a relationship" and felt free to pursue Tali.  Though going back to your quarters after the final mission and seeing her picture flipped down gave me a pang of guilt.

If I were going to leave Liara, it probably would be for Tali, and I didn't even like her that much in the first. They just did it so right in this one though...

But still, I think I'm just going to stay with Liara for my main play through.

Everyone expected Liara to be like in ME1.. but well.. being all cute and naive doesn't get YOU resurrected.

It's just expectation management.. many players expected Y and now got X, so they are a upset.

Liara is still Liara, every time she has to act tough.. she's just seems to imitate her mother instead of actually doing it naturally. To me Liaria imitating her mother is more like a good sign instead of how everyone else sees it.. omg nooo Liara becoming her mother.

Although I think it's safe to say that we never knew Liara's real mother.. we only saw the indoctrinated version.

Tali has always been a good friend I think, always loved the voice actor for her.

Actually it's quite amazing how much Bioware can convey with a character that has her entire face hidden.. pretty damn amazing. Or maybe it's just that many people just like it that she has a crush for the player, a bit similair to liara in me1?

Both?

I'm keeping my main and original Mass Effect save and staying loyal to Liara.

But i'm also making another Shepard who will have no relations to break and choosing Tali. I'm staying away from Jack and Miranda though. Too, too creepy.

When does it say that Liara was the one who gave you to Cerberus so they can play Humpty Dumpty on your corpse?

Tali hands down Liara never really did it for me in Me1 she was too much like a child ((Thou I guess one could say she is a child)) and in Me2 she just seem like an immature child having to put on a fake face to get threw life.

Tali on the other hand I got real sense of innocence even if she does have a hatred for geth it not one of ignorance I feel but of fear, And a very well placed one at that even after meeting Legion one can not just go "well this one geth is alright so the rest are to!" Also one can't simply wish past memory of geth action away, during Sarens campaign all be it they were heretic geth the images are still there.

But.. what I noticed if you calm both Tali and Legion down Tali actually understand were your coming from and even give legion info he can use most Quarians would of shot a geth long before Shepard could get to them.

I think Tali willing to give the geth a fighting chance they will just need to fight for it if they really want to prove they do not wish to have a war just like most Quarians ((or well half and half we never really got a vibe of how many Quarians sided with the sides)).

Liara tells you herself AFTER you did 2 silly missions for her.
You just have to ask her why she is so angry.. then she tells you all.

Basically the reapers want your dead body, so they ask the Shadow Broker to fix it.
Liara finds out and stops him, while losing a friend of hers, she then brings your crispy bacon to Cerberus.

Come to think of it.. this entire story could have been an awesome after-market  DLC..

Liara all the way. With out her, Shepard would be dead and there wouldn't be a Mass Effect 2. And, Sovereign would have destroyed the Citadel and the galaxy. And, my lesbian FemShep would have no romance options.

Liara is vital to the game!!!!
