I like Garrus's personality overhaul. Didn't like him in the first game, but loved him here, so it still counts.

Grunt is a very nice contrast with Wrex, and Thane is pretty cool as well.

I didn't really hate any character, but the ones I liked the least were Jack and Samara.

My favorites:

The best:
-Tali
-Mordin
-Legion

The Good:
-Grunt
-Garrus
-Jacob

The Average:
-Miranda
-Thane
-Jack
-Zaeed

The Oh my god I hate this character with every fiber of my being, and had I the option to not pick up this member I would do so in a heartbeat:
-Samara

(Its just my opinion, don't freak out on me <_<)

I liked them all actually. Garrus and Zaeed were the weakest, they felt stunted incomplete.

Loved Legion, too bad he came so late. I thought he'd be following you during the game tracking you down. Would have been better, like instead of the dying mechanice he snipes who's after you. Or something.

Jack was deeper than I thought but predictable.

Thane was the most "evolved".

Samara was cool.

The specific missions were much better than the first game.

Well, first off, Garrus and Tali were my two favorite characters this time around, but they're cheating since they were in the last one.

That said, the standouts for me this time around were Mordin, Grunt, and Legion. Mordin is just generally funny, and it's always fun to have a mad scientist on your side. Also, every once in awhile he starts getting a little Shatner, which is cool. Grunt's unrepentant love of violence is actually almost adorable, and Legion is just facinating. I also enjoy how expressive his lightbulb can be.

Samara and Thane are after those guys. These two rank above the others mainly cause I really, really like aliens. Samara's take on morality is interesting, and Thane is, well, a fish-guy. Can't go wrong there.

I don't hate Zaeed as much as I used too, but without some conversation options my enjoyment of his character is limited. Jacob and Miranda seem like pretty cookie-cutter love interest characters, and Jack is just kind of unpleasant for me to talk to.

Usually the love interests for female characters turn out to be my least favourite NPCs, so I was actually surprised by how much I ended up liking Jacob. Even if he was still something of a 'do-gooder' boyscout-type, he had a heck of a lot more personality than Kaidan, Carth and Sky combined.

Jack was probably a close second. While she certainly was a 'renegade', she was one of the more sympathetic characters in the game as well.

The new character I liked least was Grunt. While I liked Wrex well enough in the first game, I'm just about Kroganed out at this point. Grunt in particular was far to similar in temperament and disposition to his fellow Krogan for me to take interest in him.

And yes, needless to say my favourite character all-around was Tali. I know it's been fashionable to bash her and her fanbase lately, but if you didn't like her after loyalty mission, you sir (or madame) have no heart!

Jacob seemed pretty genuine with good dialogue and was good for a 'right hand man' kinda role imo. Thane and Legion were solid and showed some true depth of character and interaction. I really missed ash and wrex from the first game though.

someone liked ash?Image IPB

Of the new squad mates, Mordin easily tops the chart for me. Excellent script and acting, great character, good comedic moments without being stupid or trite.

Legion intrigues me, and I'm making it a goal on my next play to sort of rush to get him then leave my crew to die so I can have enough deployments available to really get to know him and see his dialogue trees and reactions to different missions.

Miranda also became more and more interesting to me as time went by. I feel like getting deeper and deeper into her dialogue really changed how I thought of her.

Honorable mention has to go to Jacob, who came off as a very believeable character. He didn't have any overwrought loyalties or blind spots in his worldview, and he really came off as a very practical soldier.

EDIT: Tali and Garrus are of course perrennial favorites of mine, and I've always thought that Tali was just the coolest character (and she gets even cooler in ME2), but since they're returning cast members and the thread was about the new cast, I felt like they were out of the running for the purposes of this thread.

Tali: It really felt like she came of age since her pilgrimage, she went from a naive girl to a mature woman, but still kinda reverted when she got nervous.

Legion: Because he and the geth was probably the best depiction of AI I have seen in any science fiction, Most of the time, Ai is trying to be human/organic, or trying to replace it's creator and wanted to be special or independent. The Geth just wanted to be the geth, they didn't wanna be the Quarians, they had individuality but none that an organic could understand and neither where they one personality they where their own self government. They had their beliefs, goals and wants. Just really good writing on the part of the geth and legion.

Grunt: I loved grunt because he was like a teenaged and immature Wrex and I thought he was kinda cute for this, it's like her didn't understand how everything works yet. It would be nice if in ME3 Wrex kinda turns into a father figure for Grunt or atleast takes him under his wing as a mentor.

Mordin Mordin Mordin Mordin.

Singing Salarian Spy Scientist.

How is that not awesome? Answer: It cannot be denied to be awesome.

I also like the way he rationalizes and justifies his actions. And how he reacts to the "small picture" on Tuchanka.

He's just a well done character, all around. I found myself pulling him along on missions to hear his observations.

My favorite characters were Jack, Thane and Grunt.

Jacob was also pretty cool, because he was a nice guy and really believed in good.

Zaeed, Jack and Jacob. Yes, that's right. I like the characters that everyone hates. As fer as characters that I dislike... I have to say that I don't care for Samara, she's the only new character that I don't like.

It's a deadlocked tie between Legion and Mordin. Legion made love the geth, he was like HK without the humor and Mordin made partially agree with the genophage.

Legion, Zaeed, Samara, Mordin

Legion is most funny companion in the game.

Zaeed is kinda space cowboy which I like - and I have sentiment to bounty hunters. His british accent is also a good one.

Samara is probably apart of Tali most cuttiest lady in ME2.

Mordin - Gilbert and Sullivan = JUST. WIN.

Miranda, Mordin, Garrus, Thane and Tali. In that order. I wasn't really that big on any of the other squadmates.
