I was walking across the final beam to the mainframe when the ground shook violently, and either it displaced me or the floor -- whichever it was I ended up floating in mid-air about a foot above the beam and unable to get off of it.  Probably a very slim chance of it being easily reproducible, but it's there none the less.

I had a similar experience.I was walking across the final beam to activate the console and I suddenly started to float as I walked instead of dropping down. I ended up floating above the console with no way to get down. I had to restart the mission. I've had this happen more than once so far.

I'm having the same problem. I've just done it four times in a row, too. Does it eventually fix itself if I just keep trying? Coz I really want to finish all of my quests.

same here. I started floating in the air after walking near a hole on the ship structure. The hole in question is situated on the top of the ship. Facing the console (end) it's on the left, second accesible section of the top (hull) of the ship.

I've now done it more than twenty times, and it is always the same: I get right to the very end, where you run across the beam and you're on the platform with the mainframe, only when I get almost to the end of the beam I suddenly start floating and I can't go anywhere. This is inCREDibly upsetting to me. I want a fix.

Try waiting for all noise and shakes to complete, then try running over the beam.

same here...on one of the beams, I just start floating and have to restart mission. Is Bioware aware of this bug and just not responding? After this many incidences, I'd greatly appreciate a BIO response acknowledging the bug and a rough date for when they'll release a patch to fix it.

I lost my mind on this little error too. I was (honestly) nervous during this mission and was just storming down the beams when I got caught in midair. Tried inching around where I could, and even missile blasting the surface beneath Shep to try and dislodge her from the air; that worked only to push Shep down to an otherwise no-go area below hehe.
Had to just reload the mission and bravely walk slow through the whole damned level.

*edit- sorry, I'm in the wrong forum but this also happens on the PC version*
This is on PC EA d2d version for me.

I've encountered this bug once during this mission which forced me to restart the mission. It was when I ran up the first ramp looking for a way 'out' as, being the first time playing the mission, had no clue where to go.

I haven't encountered the bug afterward (and I haven't had the problems some of the above had with this mission). But still, even once is too much IMO and hope it will be fixed (I might have been lucky now. But what about next time?).

I pressed CTRL and the W key to slowly walk over the beam, and it seems if you stick to the left side of the beam, while walking slowly across, it'll drop you down to let you access the mainframe. Maybe this might work for you?

Edit: Apologies, as I stumbled into the Xbox 360 forum.

Walk VERY slowly across this beam and you shouldn't get affected by this, however, if you do, there is a way to get back to the ground. Turn immeadietly around and walk left around the edge of the platform you just came from. Head to the back left corner and run in the direction of the beam you got stuck on and it should drop you down next to the vertical railing on the platorm. Takes a bit to get it right, but I got back to the ground twice after running up the invisible platform of death.

(This was on the PC, but it seems that the bug is in the same spot on the 360, so I think it is safe to assume that the solution is as well.)

I've found that if you holster your weapon after dropping the tile you naturally walk slower. Then at the final beam i used Ctrl to stroll across. 6th attempt to finish this mish and first time it worked. :)

And yes that's the PC version. lol. i'm sure it covers both platforms. aside from the "Ctrl" part.
