The more I play ME2, the less I like it.

To be honest... I think it's an enormous improvement. Bioware downplayed the 'better armor, better weapons, easier kills' aspect and actually focused on needing some skill to be able to play.

The whole 'shootshootshoot' aspect of ME1 was what made the gameplay really boring to me. If maybe this was a fantasy game I would be disappointed at the lack of customization, because each set of armor in a fantasy setting usually has a story behind it. Shepards armor and weapons are military-grade standard. Theres only so much you can do with that, but I think Bioware pulled it off quite nicely for ME2.

There was light, medium and heavy armours. Every other difference was colour. [/quote]

Did you even play ME1?

Yes. and the stats weren't a huge deal. It needs to be a merging of ME2 and ME1 armor management in ME3.

i kinda agree with you on this point, although they had WAY too many different types of weapons and armor in the last game they had all that customization and no real reason to use it. i am thinking they should have used a rainbow six style where you gotta balance between shields/armor/ health/ mobility

i REALLY wish they would have let you do a bit more customization with the armor and weapons. for example letting you pick between more ammo or more damage for particular guns, or giving you more options for armor upgrades.

i like how they streamlined the inventory system but they certainly didn't need to neuter the very essense of modern RPGs to do it

Yes, because wading through piles of crap in my inventory is fun.

I respect that you didn't like it, but that doesn't mean they can't add inventory and depth of customization that you won't find tedious and we won't find lacking.  The whole point here is to reach a concensus on what works and what doesn't in the hopes of taking the best from both and combining them.  There's no reason to simply dismiss these complaints out of hand.

Oh I love customization, and Iike the firsts inventory, but not when you reach the late game  and everything is junk, think someone said this, but merge ME1 and ME2 inventory systems together, love the idea of getting the gun then everyone being able to use it, helps cut down on clutter.

All this variety in ME1 served only one purpouse- omni-gel/sell thousands and thousands of junk because only 2 brands of armors and 1 brand of weapons were all that people wanted.

I'm glad I won't have to read that "you have reached the 150 item limit in your inventory" and then the joy of omni-gel minigame.

The difference between ME1 and ME2 is that in ME1 all rifles behave the same, all pistols behave the same, etc. All feel the same, shoot the same and look almost the same. There are 2 models and 14 recolors of pistols, assault rifles, sniper rifles and shotguns + geth rifle. This is variety? For some yes.

I prefer quality before quantity. ME2 reduced the number of weapons but made all of them different. Sure, I don't say ME2 is perfect. I'd enjoy more weapons, armors and customisation but even at current state of both games ME2 offers higher quality content and there's more DLC comming.

All the inventory and menu micromanagement crap in Mass Effect 1 was it's worst feature. I say good riddance.

In Mass Effect 2 it's simplified which manes more time to focus on the fun gameplay and story.
