It was alright, I'm glad I did get it just to see what they did with it... When you're higher leveled the items aren't quite as nice and I was also a little disappointed from the lack of dialogue/reaction from the other companions aside from Alistair, Wynne and Dog...
Other then that it was an interesting DLC..

To be fair, the other characters didn't know the people involved and have no stake in what was involved. As far as they're concerned, it's just another battlefield. There's really not much for them to say, and if they did, it would just be interrupting the narrative of the characters for whom this is a big deal.

If that was it then I would have been alright with it. But it's the fact they bothered giving the characters approval changes to what you do... I just felt they should voice why [EDIT] or something...

I'd respond, but this is the no spoilers forum. You might want to edit that last line.... ;)

For only 5 bucks you are getting your moneys worth, while it is short it is also jam packed of DA:O goodies and dialogue

I like RtO a lot.. I got roughly 60 minutes out of it with my current character, and I'll be taking my other two characters through it as well. In comparison to Warden's Keep, RtO seemed more like a proper adventure and less like a monty haul.

I just completed RtO. Image IPB
And I loved it. Took me about 3 hours. Maybe a bit more. But then I'm good at wringing out games like these.  I stop to admire things a lot, inhaling the environment, proceed cautiously with combat etc. I spent 155 hours on first run through DA:O + other DLC.

I think there a very good feel to RtO. My main suspicion is maybe that it may be too scaled. I really don't know, but I first did RtO with my first finished party at lvl 22-21. And the things I found in RtO are really off scale in terms of attributes. I mean they're really good. Too good to be introduced in the middle of the game. And ofc worthless when you have already finished the game (...unless I can use them in a sequel). I'll do RtO again with another less experienced party, maybe I'll find Duncan's and Cailan's stuff might be less awesome then.

But I think the feeling in RtO is just great. Image IPB This is culture. Wonderful.

What I don't understand is why are you all paying anything for this????? You trade your achievement points for it. Many of you have stated that you have played through more than a few times and should have quite a large point total. I simply applied 400 points from my total to get the RTO and paind nothing for it.

Yes, it's worth 5 bucks, but why spend it if you don't have to?

Remember to sell/re-purchase all the weapons back to a merchant (either camp or Warden's Keep work) in the late-game to upgrade them to Dragonbone. The two swords available are both excellent for fighting Darkspawn in the closing stages of the game, comparable to the other high-level swords out there (Keening or Starfang)

Its only 5 $... But then you get mid level gear only if you're into gear. Some not to deep insights into what loghain and king were arguing about before the battle and a few dialogs... That again aren't top quality and huge quantity.

The fights are simple...

So... IF you liked Cailen (SP?) and like to have his goofy armor go for it... If you didn't care for the king at all and don't need the closure then don't... Its not a huge addition to the game... Wardens keep was actually better.

Definitely worth it. It has only one major flaw towards the end (can't say which one due to spoilers, but you find two items after killing something, and there SHOULD be a scene commenting it there. There is not, and it's disappointing) but the rest is very good.

this...some scenes couldve been added, and theres an apperent bug or oversight for one of the quests...

I was not impressed. However, if somewhere else in the game new things happen based on the letters found or having Cailen's armor or sword or even some differences in the ending then I may alter my opinion.

Oh but i do like the inference that maybe Cailen was going to get rid of Anora and marry the Queen of Orlais(sp). It would certainly make what Loghain did much more understandable.

Uh, you might wanna edit that. Cause that could be considered Spoiler-ific....

No, it wasn't. It was a terrible let down, especially after months of waiting.

I've canceled my expansion pre-order.

I agree.

My only regret is that RtO wasn't available sooner, when the gear you collect might have been more useful for my toons. As it is now, I have three characters who have all completed the game "returning to Ostagar". I think the DLC would have had much more impact on me, and been much better storywise, had I been able to play it earlier in the game -- perhaps only unlocking after you had completed one or two of the main story arcs.

That said, I think RtO offers a nice sense of closure to DA:O and I'm glad I got it.

RtO is substantially more interesting if you return with companions who were at the Battle of Ostagar initially. As you know, there are several of them available. ;)

Yes worth it, especially for a couple of moving scenes and a motive for betrayal that is revealed.

If you are really into the story, it brings some closure to your main character and Alistair. I am always search every little corner of maps, I am slow when I play and it was way late when I did, so it took me 2 hours from receiving the quest to coming back to camp after.

I am level 19 and most of the items were equal or lower strength to what I got some look good though (Alistar looks good in the plate) . I am really glad I got it but I am not on a tight budget or anything so 5$ was not a big deal for me.

What something is worth is very subjective. I'm spending nearly $1000 on my car this month just to be able to drive the thing, is that worth it? who knows. I do find it curious that these threads come up in almost every game, yet I've never found anyone at a bar taking polls over whether $5 is worth it for their favourite beer or on the internet discussing whether they really got value for the $5 they spend on a pair of underpants. What is it about games and software that brings out the inner scrooge in everyone? suddenly $5 goes from chump change to a significant investment.

Regarding the DLC, what you get is this:

About and hour's worth of fighting, with a big boss at the end.

Some additional backstory about the fight at Ostegar and some more lore in your codex, which I haven't personally read.

Some nice mid-level loot.

A bit of extra XP.

If that's worth $5 to you then buy it, if not then don't.
