Right, don't laugh.. But I actually managed to delete my main character. hehe.
So can I download my character from my profile somehow?
Also it would be nice if we could download other people's creations as well. Since it's a single player game anyway.

Regards,

E

I don't think you can go backwards like that..doh. I could be wrong though.

I do like the idea of being able to download other characters though..not for use on the forums but for use in the game.

You know, like Character Build starter char types and for certain looks. I assume that's doable though since we can import our own chars..we should be able to import someone elses with the right files.

How did you accidentally delete your character?

Sadly, I don't think you can recover your character from the social site account information!
However, you can share your character build with other players, or back it up. The files are held in Documents > Bioware > Dragon Age > Pre-release characters.

You cannot download a character from your social site data.

The game stores the character data it requires in the .chr file.

The xml, jpg and portrait in png format are all generated by the engine in order to upload to the social site. If you create another character with the same name it will overwrite the .chr file. If you then press the upload button it will overwrite the xml file and image files and update your social site entries including any profile pictures.

You'll have to recreate it by hand.

How do you delete a character from the website, then? Apparently it is not enough to delete him in-game.

I asked about this earlier. Apparently there isn't an option to delete characters yet.

Here, this is taken from the FAQ with regards to deleting characters:

We are working on a tool to manage uploaded characters - it will be linked from the character profile pages when available.

But, as i gather from previous posts in this thread, you can overwrite an online character by uploading one with the same name.

If you want to have the characters of other players, I think that the best way is to nicely ask  via MP if the person accepts to send you the character files.

The "manage characters" page is now live - you can delete any that you do not want showing up online.

I know this thread is really old, but my external hdd with my character on it died. Has any function been added where i can download him from the site? or is that still not possible? There's a lot of information there, so it seems like it should be possible. Oh, and can I import a character from the site to DA2, or do i have to have the save file. Thanks.

It is not possible, this site only stores a bit of statistical data, not complete game details.

Any backups need to be done manually.
