Have you noticed that anytime ANY game comes out anymore..it's automatic wow clone? I don't even think it even needs to be an rpg anymore. Any game will do..

I think I could die happy if someone would introduce a virus to the Wow servers that would work slowly and quietly enough to not be caught until it corrupted all WoW data including backups.

If WoW had even a fraction of the story that this game has I would still be playing it. All WoW is, is a quest for better items every aspect of the game is geared towards your character getting better gear and the story is simply tacked on so they can call it an RPG. Dragon Age is the exact opposite of that because the choices your character makes will determine if you have enough to stem the tide of the blight, not to mention the combat is far more tactical then the FPS type of combat that WoW offers.

DA:O is quite similar to WoW; WoW does not bore me to tears and nether does DA:O.

Not at all. What is sad is how popular WoW is for a game that did nothing new.

It is more correct to say "DA:O and WoW are both similar to all the RPGs that came before them".

Actually I would say this is closer to Neverwinter Nights than WoW. This is probably how NWN2 should have been made. But you probably have never played any thing else but WoW so have nothing to really compare it to.

If you want millions of people you've never interacted with to get a virus just because they play a game you don't like, then you've no right to be calling others douches.

Yeah, you completely failed at reading comprehension.

1)  I said I want the WoW data corrupted, not the players themselves.

2)  It's not just because I don't play Wow, It's because of the mentality WoW has created in people who never played a game before it.

3)  It's also because so many games trying to emulate it to get a gazillion sales.

1) Would make 15 million people or more unhappy and annoyed.

2) You mean the mentality that Counterstrike gave the generation before, and Diablo the generation before that?
Some people just play to win, even if there's no progression or variation, and there's no need to want the game they play to dissapear. Just stay away from it.

3) Companies always try to emulate popular games, it's an area with potential obviously. If Wow wasn't there it would be Warhammer or a similar game you'd be complaining about.

agreed, full of spoilers, and no real insight, just the usual pseudo-elitist nerdrage about the "good ole' days" when RPGs where apparantly some kind of rocket science as opposed to today where every game has the complexity of a generic browser game. Wrong and you know it. One other thing that really gets on me nerves is that EVERYONE nowadays seems to be obsessed with WoW-Bashing. Really what the hell is wrong with you guys? This is a Bioware-Forum, i don't wanna read about WoW here. And last but not least: Why do you thing the similarities to WoW are such a bad thing, when you obviously played WoW quite a bit?

I don't like WoW either, I was just addicted to it for four years.  However, it was an MMO.  I knew exactly what I was getting into when I played it.  I played it for PvP not for depth of storyline.  I played BG II for that.

What I liked was Baldur's Gate II- which was absolutely more complex than this ****ty game.  Games back then were more complex, you'd know if you'd played them.  Now, people copy the Blizzard model because it's profitable.  They market dumbed down, interactive movies to the masses and make bazillions.  See: Final Fantasy 1 through whatever number they're on now.  Those guys are bagillionaires.

Noob tip #126: There were lots of MMORPGS before WoW.

For some reason this reminds me of that image circulating the internet of the Modern Warfare 2 boycott list where 85 percent of players on the list were actually playing Modern Warfare 2.

Personally I don't think a "threat" mechanic should have any place in any game.

I personally think it makes sense. When you are being attacked by a group of enemies do you not try to attack the one that is the most threatening? Sure there are different ways to be threatening. For example in Diablo II (yea...I'm bringing it back!) Shamans raise their fallen minions and so they are the most threatening and must be killed first. Obviously if the group of enemies lacks that kind of threat, you would attack the enemy dealing the most damage to you or your party. Threat makes sense in my opinion.

I might've misworded that a bit.

The concept of "threat" I appreciate. Not so much for the concept of "tanking". I just can't figure out how a guy who deals and takes no damage is the most "threatening". That's as threating as a rock with swear words scribbled onto it. I don't care how much you insult me, rock, I'm *going* to kill your healer!
