K so I'm in the Redcliff castle. Just when I think I got the hang of this game, I run into another tough spot. I was doing good too since I gave Morrison a heal spell. I was able to learn how to tank and gather mobs on my main. Of course that's a bit dicey sometimes. As the cooldown on Morri's heal spell is too long, and often my main takes too much damage and dies while the heal is in cooldown. I have to pop a salve every once in a while- which you can't do when you are knocked down.

Which brings me to these war dogs inside the castle. they are kicking my ass. I tried shutting doors to fight only one or two at a time (doesn't work as the thread title suggests). I even tried killing one, then going back down into the basement. But you can't retreat down a level when in combat :(. These dogs are tough as they have knockdown, and I don't have talents yet to prevent the knockdown. As I mentioned earlier, I can't use salves when knocked down, and the cooldown on Morri's heal spell is too long. I'm kind of stuck. I really don't want to drop down to easy. I've been doing ok so far. That's a last resort.

I'm trying all the tactics I can think of. I even try using doorways as chokepoints, but it's difficult to physically block a chokepoint. The dogs can push right past you. :( I use cc of course. But it doesn't last long.

gonna try again mircomanaging this time. I have pretty good triggers set up, but I think my dps cc might be overlapping each other. I'm still not sure how to best set up triggers to prevent cc overlap. I hate too much micromanagement. If I play all the characters, I have little reason to reroll and play the game with an alt. As I'll have experienced every class' playstyle. But I was just wondering if there was a trick or weakness on these dogs you guys might know of. Thanks.

My mother's dog actually repeatedly opens her doors when they aren't locked. Yes dogs are fully capable of opening them. As for your dog problem are you stunning or otherwise disabling the dogs (especially the boss)? Use CC on the boss while getting your dps to get rid of the minions, then once its the only one left take it out. If I remember right tons of CC - grease is good if you have it - was key to winning that fight.

You can pull the group with luck. Set your party far away and hold (h key). Have your tank rush in and then run back to the group. You can get it so only one or two follows you.

I'll give that a try. For some reason the whole group pulls, and they don't give up chase- unlike most mobs. Even when I park my party near the stairs down. I skipped them for now, and I'll go back to them. Maybe with the rest of the level clear, I can find a spot where I can only fight a few at a time. And I didn't realize there was a boss one. I thought they were all the same.

oh well, the game kind of thrusts you into the final battle sometimes, annoying. Didn't get a chance to finish exploring the castle. It seems as though all the chests and treasure still remained, but the enemies disappeared and the place was repopulated with servants etc. So I don't think I missed out on much treasure, just some xp for the dogs. oh well.

As for the final battle with the demon. Pretty easy compared to the dog battle. The game has some weird balance issues. But it shows a weakness in my game- crowd control. I'll have to work on that in the future.
