Mass Effect 3: What do you want and NOT want
#201
Posté 26 juillet 2010 - 07:15
Customization (weapons, armor, perhaps even the Normandy)
Space battles (similar to the Collector base space battle scene, where your upgrades and maybe even your commands will influence the fight)
Explorable planets with the Hammerhead (hopefully with more armor)
Make Loyalty (if it is important to the game) more difficult to obtain (ie if you support the Quarian geth war, Legion won't be loyal to you)
More unique weaponry (expand on the Heavy weapons idea, make them usable in more situations)
Not want:
Planet scanning.

and please dont bring back planet scanning..i'd rather buy the elements since i always have boatloads of cash after playthroughs (now at like 500k on hardcore as infil, didnt do any shopping yet so that might be why)
and no more praetorian like enemies (still stuck on the one on horizon and jack and grunt are probably the worst ones to fight him with)

More exploration would have been cool, not just in a vehicle but on foot as well.
Heavier and deeper decisions. I ended the game with no one dying; I thought for sure that if I saved my crew Shepard would die and felt let down that everything was perfect, particularly with the dark overtone of the game. I also thought it was weird that your paragon couldn't save your relationship with Ashley (friend or otherwise) but you could keep Tali and Legion from killing each other, or Jack and Miranda for that matter. Just didn't seem like the ramifications for your decisions didn't carry much weight when you used Paragon choices.

What's wrong with an ending where everyone survives? It proves that Shepard is a true hero who pulled everyone through against all odds. Similar feats aren't unheard of.Hoojo2 wrote...

And stopping the argument between crew members isn't the same as fixing a broken relationship. Shepard has been separated from his/her LI for two years. The LI believed Shepard was dead and gone for those two years, and would have been utterly crushed. When Shepard shows up working with a known human-supremacist terrorism/black ops organisation, they have every reason to be upset.

1. Return of the inventory! Let there be abundance of loot somewhere in the middle of ME1 (which was a little too much) and ME2 (which was...well, none), and much greater diversity in equipment. No one weapon, piece of armor, or other equipment should be the outright best for EVERY character class either, such as the Spectre weapons, Savant amps/omni-tools, and Colossus armor in ME1; it adds a lot more to the planning and thinking-out of one's character.
2. Retain armor customization and reintroduce weapon customization. Ammo mods don't have to come back because of the ammo powers added in ME2, but being able to add recoil dampeners, heat sinks (which would act as "extended magazines"), and perhaps even other accessories such as scopes of various power also add more thought into the planning of every mission and every fight.
3. Ability to once again modify the armor and weapons of squadmates. Furthermore, the ability to refund a squadmate's talent points, perhaps for a fee of some sort, would be greatly appreciated.
4. The ammo system is fine; don't retcon it again. On a similar note, ME2's combat > ME1's combat.
5. Don't turn TIM into the stereotypical power-mad despot; he's an excellent character as he is.
6. Make the new level cap actually challenging to reach! Getting to 60 in ME1 took a lot of time IMO. Getting to 30 in ME2 was really quite easy. The experience system should probably return to something like that in ME1 where you are rewarded appropriate experience for killed enemies, but also for completing quests and assignments.
7. More interactions between squadmates on the field and on the Normandy.
8. Flesh out the stories of the existing squadmates and bring back some of the ME1 squadmates.
9. Return the talent point system to something identical or similar to ME1's; it makes leveling up matter more.
10. Return the expansiveness of the Citadel, and make other major locations such as Omega actually seem big and not restricted to a few corridors here and a few rooms there.
11. Skippable intro. The ME2 intro is great and all, but it's lost pretty much all of its value by the 15th time.
Do NOT want:
1. Shepard to be killed regardless of previous decisions! I think that any combination of decisions from the previous two games should not ever doom Shepard to death regardless of what he does in ME3, but could make it more difficult or easier for him to survive.
2. More than a perhaps a couple new squadmates. We have enough already.
3. Mandatory LI death, unless the player knows he/she is walking into it. For that matter, the death of any squadmate should be based mostly if not entirely on Shepard's actions and their consequences.
4. Multiplayer. Focus your energies on making the single player experience the best yet.
5. Emails or news snippets, while somewhat interesting, should not bring resolution to nearly as many stories as they do in ME2.

I would have liked to see more group dependancy like in Mass Effect 1. I liked having to have someone in the group with Decryption, etc, if you were a Soldier. Then that would bring into play having to get a characters loyalty to be in the party despite not agreeing with them.

An inventory like in mass effect 1 where you find different armor.
I would also like to see squad members from both games.
More sidequest with planets that you can land on
Getting experience by killing enemies not waiting till the end of the mission to level up
Bigger cities like the citadel in mass effect 1
Don't want
Scanning planets

Want: Dialogue. Even just little quips from the characters without having to engage with them is fine for me, just have something other than silence most of the time. Take a cue from Joker: if you hang around the cockpit, but don't talk to him, he'll make little quips about wanting to eat an "honest-to-god dead cow," or how he was thinking about taking up bullfighting.
Want: Garrus on my squad.
Want: Larger text for the Codex, dialogue wheels, and subtitles. I couldn't make it out in ME2. I hope it goes back to ME1 size.
Want: a confrontational situation between the ME1 & ME2 love interests. Or a situation like Virmire that requires you to choose between one or the other.
Want: ME2 armor customization
Do Not Want: the Mako.
Do Not Want: armor and weapons from ME1. ME2 was much more streamlined in this regard.

Beyond that, all I ask is that Bioware keeps on doing what its doing. All nitpicking aside, Mass Effect is the unambiguous preeminent epic science fiction franchise of this generation, and I expect nothing less than a stupendous finale from what is arguably the most reliably solid game development outfit of all time.

Yeah i know I know, its been posted like 237 times, BUT what else are forums used for? Discussions for everyone.
Anyway to the point. What is it you want in ME3
I personally don't care but PLEASE bioware... please
Do not do an ending like Halo 3. That would be so predictable. Shepard dies or goes MIA. I would hate that. I doubt bioware will do anything like that but whatever.
Also what kind of consequences will happen for your new LI. I personally was going to stick with Ash and not persue a new one, BUT she left me. She was mad at me, I told her the mission and there was a chance I would not come back. HEr loyalty to the Alliance was greater than her allgiance to Shepard. So really how would you feel if your lover just left you and didnt support you. I know the message she sent you was an apology but what is that? Shepard would be right by her side if she needed him. So really, I hope they make it so that Shepard isnt the only one who she feel bad. But anyway thats one thing I hope. I hope the confrontation between old LI to new one will be interesting. Especially if its Tali.
So...
You and me both but the shooter fanatics got their message accross last time and this travesty happened so no way in hell I stop till my message is heard!
What I want in ME3
1) I want Bioware to hire me as a quality control guy cause the ones they have failed outright on ME2
2) Bring back influence checks and influence dialoge that opens when a party member trusts you! The end pay off should be the loyalty quest to solidify your relationship with that character but its shouldnt be the linear "wait till party member ready to tell you regardless of relationship bull****y ME2 has"
3) Bring back intersquad comnversations so the characters personalities can grow and be seens with different group mates and how they interact with each other.
4) Make the information you find matter. IE: Legion tells you about geth, TALI CARES and is interested in it. I mean they only took over her home world and kicked her race off colonized planets, why would she care about new breakthroughs in understanding the Geth? COME ON ALREADY BIOWARE, USE YOU HEADS OR MAKING THIS SHOOTER DUMB NOT ONLY THE GAME DOWN?
5) Allow us to revisit old places so we feel connected to the game. I really wanted to goto Noveria and the Citidel in ME2 but what you know, not allowed at all.
6) Make the ADULT love scenes ADULT. Enough of this G rated crap
Thats just scratching the survace but those 6 points would turn this game into a satifying experience from the get go.
Do not want
1) Tedious surveying for resouces
2) Linear conversations that cant be influenced or effected
3) Crappy ammo system
4) More G rated love scenes
5) Fuel for ship
6) Linear storytelling that you are simple a spectator of and cant effect or changeJust_mike wrote...

Tali to be romanced by either gender. Come on Bioware, yo can hook up with Kelly, At least leave it so it's "Implited" that they can get together. The chemistry between them was just as apparent playing as a guy or girl.
Everyone from ME2 that's alive to return.
Did it ever accure to you that maybe Tali isnt Bi?
LOL, from what Ive read in the gay topics, everyone wants to ****** according to them!
I mean Tali Bi makes so much sence. She oinly comes from a society that lives and dies on reproduction and duty while being scared to death of infections.
Casual sex with the same sex just makes so much sence! LOL
So you want to be involved in quality control yet your grammar is worse than a third grader and your spelling is horrendous?

...1. Isn't that a the Singularity projector that came from gamestop?
2. Seriously? a HW that shoots combat drones? yes...totally makes sense lol.
3. You might want to go shopping. 500k isn't much at all if you actually buy things, things that might help you against that praetorian.

Most of my squadmates returning. (Most notably Garrus and Tali.)
An epic battle between Shepard with Krogan, Rachni, Quarian, ect. fleets and the Reapers.
Closure to my LI dilema between Tali and Ashley.
Tali's face
Don't want:
Squadmates going MIA for no good reason.
An ending that hints at a sequel that can never happen. (i.e. Halo 3 and God of War 3)
Another moment in which we think we're going to see Tali's face but we're not.

Tali
Kasumi
Real shooter cover system.
Return of shooter battle mechanics
Clip/Ammo system
More unique class powers like charge
A few more armor pieces to work different bonuses
Vehicle combat to be integrated into missions as opposed to stand alone
More gore. Incendiary rounds can light enemies up. Shredder rounds should tear them apart.
Do not want:
ME1 Inventory
Swords of any kind
ME1 Inventory
Planet scanning
ME1 Inventory

* MASSIVE star trek-styled space battle (in which EDI could show her hacking capabilities) which would have HUNDREDS of starships and dreadnoughts (and would BURN your video card XD).
*One MORE space battle, this time near a mass relay, a giant reaper fleet attacks system alliance fleet. Liara/Ashley watches through the window and cries, realising they will all die, but the mass relay shines suddenly, and here comes Shepard to the rescue, bringing Turian, Asari and Salarian fleets.
*I want a line "FIRE EVERYTHING!", from (I don't know) turian? captain in the space battle.
*Larger Normandy (inside), similar to Enterprise (joking, not that large, it's just - by looking at all the windows from the outside, it seems there are many more rooms than those which are actually shown in ME2).
*A firefight on the NORMANDY'S HULL
*I WANT WREX TO BE A PARTY MEMBER, NOT JUST A NPC!!!!!!, (he and Garrus are my favourite characters.)
*Cure 4 the genophage (that would probably convince the krogans to aid you in the battle against reapers).
*"That's what she said." joke with Aria, or
"I am Omega!" -"So, you're a SH**HOLE?"
aaaaaand...
* "Ah, yes...." reply option.
NOT WANT:
*Mako
*Independence day-like ending
*ME1 Inventory (too complicated 4 me<_<)

Shepard to be able to crouch like squad does if no solid object to hide behind is near
A combat sim/ Rec area area on the Normandy to try out/test different weapons/powers before going out in the field
A seriously satisfying happening with the Turian Councilor (if saved council) and Udina (am so so sick of those two)
To know what was the secret in Keiji Okuda/Kasumi Goto's memories was/is
To own and use Hock's place
More/larger ground exploration
A blend of the Makko and Hammerhead for ground exploration (Maybe wheels on a Hammerhead type or longer flight ability, tougher and not be jerked around by scanning with it)
Planet scanning changed a bit, so it doesn't put me to sleep...
To know what the Quarians look like
To have Matriarch Aethyta as bartender on the Normandy

...my non-campy sci-fi tone back. Can't we have female characters that are sexy but not going into a gunfight in a catsuit, with their boobs hanging out?
...better integration for new armor. Maybe a few base armors with their own customizable pieces? I felt like the ME2 system was a step in the right direction, but the armor sets didn't mix and match well in an aesthetic sense.
...weapon customization to return. There was no reason to waste character powers on ammo. Individual ammo made more sense and allowed greater specialization of each character.
...Shepard to be in more control. I'm sick of getting bossed around and sent into traps by the Alliance and Cerberus even though I'm a supposed natural leader and war hero.
...biotics to affect protected enemies, just to a lesser extent. Perhaps also removing armor bars and just increasing enemy health. There are too many types of defenses, switching between weapons and ammo powers every fight really slowed things down. Powers felt very synergistic in ME1, they became more like rock/paper/scissors in ME2.
...squad member banter. 'nuff said.
...a more agile Shepard. Taking cover, switching weapons, and melee combat all feel like sluggish Gears of War type of animations. I want to run, jump, slide, and climb around the battlefield.
*I don't want*:
...melodramatic romance. The awkward looking animated kissing is bad enough, at least make the dialogue leading up to it a little more natural and less like a bad romance novel.
...loading screens. I liked the elevators and airlocks in ME1 more. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I found them more immersive.
..."mission complete" screens. I'd rather have some sort of log screen that is optional to look at after I return to the Normandy. Stop reminding me that I'm playing a video game!
...planet exploration that is poorly implemented. If you can't find a way to make it fun and rewarding (loot or storywise), don't bother. A less tedious way to collect resources would be nice as well. Mining was too much of a grind.
