Lately my Dragon Age avatars have been disappearing. They just turn to black. It started yesterday and I'm honestly quite clueless about what might be causing it.

Anyone has any clue?

I have the same problem. Seems like the server is broken. The images transfered to your browser are 0x0 pixels with a size of 0KB.

The funny part is that they upload correctly, but after a few hours they just disappear...

This is frustrating. Did it really just start with yesterday's patch?

Its been going for over a week. I think it was a week ago Thursday or Friday evening when two of my characters went poof (And I notcied an awful lot of Black Box avatars at that point too). I was able to get them back by deleting and reuploading, but while the one I use for my avatar has so far stayed, the other one got screwed up again. I'm currently seeing if just playing and regular updating will bring him back, or if I have to delete him completely again.

Hey Abriael, now even your avatar is gone. That's crazy!

Just playing through RtO with my mage who had had his portraits disappear off the site, and just the uploading from autosaves got him back. Just have to wait and see if he stays.

That would mean that the server bug would have been fixed within a day.

Let me think... Naah, it won't stay. ;)

I was more hoping that whatever is going through the server messing with the files would miss me next time. ;)

Perhaps it's really fixed. But I don't have the nerves for creating dummy saves for all my characters right now, especially when it's 2 AM.

Well that didn't take long. Mage is gone again, as is the Dwarf Warrior I was using as my current profile pic.

Both times I was online when my avatar disappeared it was right around 6pm PST. I'm going to keep on eye on it and see if its happening at any sort of regular time.

I'm completely clueless on how to solve this. Looks like we'll have to wait for a developer response :( In the meanwhile, I guess I'll keep my black. The pre-made avatars are absolutely unsightly...

Well, this time they went away at 10pm PST, so there goes that theory.

Just when I'd made it 2 days without my avatar disappearing again.

I made a new character a few days ago after screwing up the first two. The first 2 uploaded just fine, but the third character's portrait and profile image are only showing red X's (just like my avatar). What gives? Is there a way to retake/upload a portrait image?

DravenKorr, as you play the game it will send uploads to this site. The upload will restore portraits that have been mysteriously deleted off this site. The real issue is that we don't know what's deleting them to begin with.

Generally the game will upload your information on autosaves and manual saves, so if you want to force an upload you can do a manual save. (Sometimes switch a piece of equipment helps as well). If the upload goes through it will fix the images that are showing up as red Xs.

Your Persona's are screwed up.  I followed the instructions here social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/6/index/583965 to clear out all my characters and re-upload them.

Avatars have been working great ever since.

I have repeatedly followed those same instructions with no improvement at all.

Did you make sure all error codes for all uploaded characters were gone? I had one character that I had lots of trouble fixing and it would cause the next character on the list to lose their avatar on a regular basis...

The point I'm making is - Don't just delete the OLD characters. Delete ALL of them and force fresh uploads for everyone. Deleting just the old ones didn't fix anything for me but Deleting everyone and makind sure they have a clean upload instead fixed everything...

I play on a PC, not online and my characters do the same thing. First they get "splotchy" and then go blacker. Game play also gets slower and slower. Disappearing Characters still function, but it is annoying! I'm going to try playing not logged in.
