I've read that the ME2 installer never installs the game properly. Could someone please proved a step by step guide on how to properly install Mass Effect 2?

it installs fine on most machines.
try installing and look at the final size of your installed folder. It should be 11-12GB
if it's less than that then it missed some files off the 2nd disc and I'm not sure how to fix that
