Personally I hate to see Niall die, since he fought so hard to save the circle.

One of the hardest deaths, though, was Danyla. When you find her, she is just in so much pain, and seeing how much she cared about her husband and he about her, I desperately wanted there to be a way to save her, but death is the only compassionate end for her.
On my current game (human noble female), Oren was the hardest death for me to bear (so far). I was horrified, and I actually got tears in my eyes when I found him dead. It was horrible that so many people died in that origin, but that was the worst one.

I hated that Ser Otto died. My first run through the orphanage I wasn't paying attention and lost him to the Mabari or something, so I reloaded to protect him better. It didn't do any good.

There are two mercy killings in the game that just kill me, no pun intended. One is the wrap-up of the Dalish origin "loose end." Gah, I wept for real over that one. And killing Ruck- if you go back to him with Zevran in your party- is also so, so sad.

Also Daveth's death..he was my favorite companion from the moment I first saw him, and I wish I could have him in my game ( and in my tent too
I hated to kill elven female, who become werewolf ( forgot her name), and I felt sorry about her husband.
And Tamlen..well I know he was sick, but he was my elven female first potential LI, and while I know it was mercifull to kill him I still feel sorrow.
Anyway there also were dead I enjoyed very much ( this bastard from city elf Origin-arl's son and his two friends) Arl Howe ( especially when Im playing as a HN), Loghain, and I feel I could enjoy if I would be able to kill sometimes Queen Anora, Morrigan ( but not in my every plathroughts, becouse in some she is my friend), Behlen ( or whatever his name is)

Afaik, technically you can save her. If you do not talk to her at all when you meet her in the forest, and then you get the Keeper to lift the curse, she'll be healed and her husband will go into the forest to search for her.
That's what I've heard on the road, anyhow, - take it for what it is.

You save him by not doing his quest at all.

Also, while Shianni doesn't die in the City Elf origin, it's strongly implied that the Bann did some...inappropriate things to her. I always feel bad about that one too.

Actually, Fergus shows up in the epilogue for Human Noble, and for City Elf, Soris is locked up in the Arl of Denerim's prison where you can free him.It always sucks how everybody dies in the Human Noble origin.

In my mind's eye I like to think Shianni enjoyed having "inappropriate things" done to her, as evidenced by her behavior when you choose to kill Vaughan and his men.

I hope this doesn't mark me as "cold and unfeeling" but the death in the HN origin I hated the most was Ser Gilmore. Eleanor could have left, but her death moved the story along. Not to mention that she was right about having had a good life. They seemed like very good parents and left a strong legacy. I suppose it sort of sucks that I knew Gilmore better than my sister-in-law and nephew and maybe that's why I hated his death so much. Plus, I don't think three people leaning against the doors was all that much more help than two people. He could have had time to get out.eschilde wrote...
Ugh, the whole human noble origin sucks. Even though you don't see Bryce and Eleanor die you know they are as good as dead.. For me, Eleanor is the worst, the other ones you have no chance of saving but Eleanor was totally fit to leave. Oren.. when I first played the HN origin I didn't try to train him, but once I realized he was dead I went back and tried to, but Oriana wouldn't let me, arghhh. I thought maybe if you taught him basic sword strokes he could hold someone off until you got there to save him

If you are a healer, you can heal him. That's what I did with my mage PC.
As far as who I hated to see die:
Ser Gilmore *sniffs* and HN family.
Daveth - I really liked him.
As previously mentioned, having Zevran along in Deep Roads is sad sad sad when he says you need to put Ruck out of his misery...Especially when Ruck yells "Oh! pretty lady said she would not hurt Ruck!"

Previously, werewolf lady has been killed out of mercy, but from now on I suspect that my PCs will carefully walk round her. Something that gives me pause every time is the lust demon with the enchanted templar. What do other people choose?

Tamlen (I tried to rescue him...)
Danyla
Niall, most definitely
Jowan
Dairren/Iona
Lady of the Forest
Caridin
Ser Cauthrien
Taliesin
The Bandit Leader in Lothering
Loghain/Arl Howe (so sue me --- I like well-crafted villains and miss em when they're gone)

Really? I had read in several places that she just vanishes if you cure the werewolves without talking to her and the quest is left incomplete. Thanks, though! I will have to try this sometime.

I'm pretty hopeless. I don't like anyone dying. I only tried to be adventurous once and picked the 'let Isolde sacrifice herself' option; as soon as Jowan was in the Fade, I reloaded and went to the Tower for help. Ditto Loghain. He was killed by accident on my part because I stupidly let Alistair fight him. That was another quick reload.

The blood ritual with Isolde is pretty freaky if you watch it, although I was glad that Jowan didn't have to stab her like he did his hand in the origin story... LoL
I always kill the lust demon and the templar, because I do agree with my companions... it is just as much a crime to let him live in an illusion and basically be food for a demon. It's like you going into the Fade... would you really give in and believe that it was all over and just be content with it? Or if you had and ever became cognizant of that, would it really make you happy?
I think everyone's reactions in the Fade are really interesting, and I wish you could talk to them about it afterwards. From the point of a human female noble, I always wanted to know if Alistair's vision of his sister was what would really make him happy, or if he maybe saw something else too?

I haven't tried this myself, mind you. That's what I have read somewhere.

Just played the HN origin again and it was even sadder this time. What got me especially was hearing the men break through the door in the main hall- realizing that sound meant Ser Gilmore's death was so sad.

I killed the demon and the templar the first times, for the same reasons as you, but then I found that note which suggested he was pretty unhappy. I'm not really sure what being possessed by a lust demon involves (that sounds very naive, doesn't it?) in the Dragon Age mythos. To me it kind of suggests a Belle Dame Sans Merci situation, which would at least be an improvement on the distasteful and apparently inescapable duties of the templars.
