I broke down his door and persuaded Dwyn to fight with me to defend Redcliffe so he is still in his house now. I took Sten to Orzammar to talk to the merchant who acts all weird and stares at Sten. Then I took Sten to see Dwyn. And I get nothing. Dwyn just keeps telling me I am a hero and that he is going to sleep for a week. The chest in his back room is no longer selectable. Any ideas??

Did you already see the looter at lake Callenhad? I think that is what starts the quest after you get Sten to like you enough and tell you that he lost his weapon.

We started with the convo about him losing it and went to Lake Callenhad but there was no looter there. I had already completed the Circle quest so I don't know if that messed it up somehow.

Do you have the actual quest in your journal? The looter is immediately to your right as you enter Lake Calenhad. It doesn't matter whether or not you've finished Broken Circle. He should be there until you talk to him.

After talking to the guy at Calenhad (he's right at the entrance and can be easy to miss), you also have to make a stop outside Orzamaar before Dwyn will fork up the key and the chest will become selectable.

I missed the looter the first time too. He's actualy easy to miss if you don't know were to look since when you enter that area you're ahead of him
