The Shepard death ending is just for kicks. You can't import that save.

I said this before in the Tali thread but imo as of Mass Effect 2 Shepard/Garrus/Tali are the emotional heart of the series.

Yeah, got notified of that in another thread in the last minutes. ;) I hope BW will consider making the "Tali and/or Garrus dies" saves non-canon, too, then.

Didn't Tali say at some point that they are considering her for Admiral?

And she hated it. Tali'Zorah vas Normandy

Not only that, but I don't think that she's ready for it.  She's 24.  The impression from the first game is that Quarians have a somewhat similar life expectancy to that of humans (Tali's age at the time of her pilgrimage suggests that she developed at the same rate that a human would), so she'd be pretty young.  Age provides experience, and you want people with some experience under their belt as one of the leaders of your people.  Tali's a mechanical genius.  She appears to be quite skilled in combat.  She's very resourceful.  She'd probably make a good team leader if she didn't keep having unfortunate and unexpected issues screw things up (i.e. Cerberus showing up and accidentally getting her team distracted and over-hasty; getting ordered to take a small team into what turns out to be a major Geth force).  But she's probably not yet ready to become one of the people that her entire race looks to for guidance and leadership.  She can serve as an important influence.  But she's not yet ready to take charge.

And in any event Tali wants to continue to work with Shepard for the time being, whether or not there's a romance involved.  Her "I wish Shepard were here" comment that you hear on her recruitment mission indicates this.  She looks up to Shepard, and it appears that Shepard's support helps to inspire confidence in her.  She's happy on the Normandy for the time being.

Yeah. Garrus and Tali. My to most favorite people in the game. They were with me wherever i went. They went with me when I went to destroy the Reaper. Thank god neither of them plus me didn't die. I only lost Jacob...Poor dude. Got shot right in the face when he was helping me close a door to block the collectors.

I reckon its about time i ring in with my two cents....

I did'nt romance anyone in the first game, Romanced Tali in the second game.

Some people are understandably upset there LI from the first game had just a cameo in this game, and others, such as myself, are concerned about a Mass effect 2 Love interest being reduced to a cameo in the next game.  To be honest, i don't mind if Tali (or garrus) are not recruitable as squad mates in Mass effect 3 ON THE SOLE CONDITION THAT SAID ROMANCE COMES TO SOME KIND OF REASONABLE CONCLUSION IN ME3.    This goes for all Kaidan/ashley/Liara fans too.  You guys deserve this no less than us Tali / Garrus fans.  Some kind of romance conclusion.

In other words, at the end of mass effect 3 you can go through the Turian, asari, or Quaraian Equivelent of Marriage (or whatever they might call it.)  In fact, Shepard trying to research this as a side quest so that he can have the proper Ettiquette at said ceremony would be interesting indeed....and would allow for a slightly longer resolution at the end (provided you and your love interest survive)

Tali, for sure. She was a member of almost every squad I put together in ME1 and ME2. If she isn't a recruitable member in ME3, I can only hope that BioWare does a really fantastic job of explaining why she'd not a part of the team. In my opinion, while they did a great job with Wrex's story, they really dropped the ball with Liara's.

Unlike so many on these boards, however, I've never been a fan of Garrus. He rarely if ever gets an invite on any squad I build and I wouldn't be at all upset if he was killed/retired off in a future installment. For me, the character was just a little too much of a cliche "bad cop". I like playing the good guy and Garrus is just a little too comfy with the notion that the ends justifies the means.

Well, I think I *could* live with them not being squad mates, if the romance would continue, with you being able to visit them whenever you are not on a mission, and you still get multiple ( as in 10 at the minimum ) long conversations about your relationship and a meaningful ending to the romance. With a length of dialogue which at least approaches the ones in Dragon Age, please.

Although if that'd be the case, they might as well include them as squad mates. ^^

I feel the same way.  Having them in the squad is'nt (and really should'nt) be as important as continuing to develope a Friendship / Relationship with them.

ya seriously, if they would do this much work, it isn't that much more to give them a skill set and a little animation.

Garrus and Tali for sure. Having played through ME1 and ME2 they seem very much like Shepard's closest friends (same goes for Joker) and it would be a shame to lose two characters who mesh so well with Shepard.

Not surprising that both seemingly to have a large fanbase who ship!shep them.

They pretty much got Shep's back no matter what. I need that kind of loyalty and not people who care so much about the organization funding my mission.

I like him. I'm more of a Tali fan but I included him because it seems like an enormous amount of people wanted him as well.

I'm seeing A LOT of love for Tali and Garrus. There's been quite a few suggestion threads and over and over again it seems like this suggestion keeps coming up. I think it deserves its own thread to really grab the devs attention.

So please show your support for Tali and Garrus in this thread! :D

my garrus died.  Got hit with a missle
IDK why, I leveled him to the fullest and upgraded him with the upgrades he recomended and the ones that applied to him.  Probably will go back and do it over to save him.

I want to show my support as well. Dammit, we got our romances, we don't need anyone else!
Well... I speak for myself.  My Shepard only needs Garrus by her side, you can send her to as many suicide missions as you want. Tali, too, but I see her more like a little sister for Shepard, wich is emotionally interesting too (her hug interrupt was very powerful, without any romance in mind).

But yeah, Garrus. Shepard and him, together, against the reapers, or whatever the galaxy throws at them!

I've only done the tali romance so far, but I'm looking forward to the garrus one.

Ehh, I still think this is kind of useless.

Tali and Garrus can both die. They couldn't die in ME1, so their presence in ME2 is easily done.

I honestly, sincerely don't expect Bioware to turn potentially dead people into squadmates. That's a lot of work and resouces for something not everyone will experience. Again I point to Wrex in ME2. He was a fan favorite from ME1, but he's potentially dead.

I seem to say this a lot.

You seem to forget that bioware is able to import saves.

Wrex can or can't die in ME1, so obviously he won't be in ME2

Ashley and Kaiden can both die.  So obviously both won't be in ME2.

See how ridiculous those two sound?  Yeah.

I dont think what the person you quoted is taking into account is the fact, it wouldnt be any less/more work on biowares part.  Say they include Tali, Garrus, Thane, Miranda from ME2 in ME3. then maybe 5 more new/or old.

Bioware doesnt have to create a "new" character to replace every dead character you had.  You let them die, you live with the consequences of having a depleted team.  As far as squad mates are concerned aside from shep none are necessarily integral to the story, perhaps a "skill" might be, but theirs plenty of that to go around.  Aside from the personal missions in ME2 (which ME3 might not even have)  Its not like if "insert character here" wasnt in the game, bioware would have had to change much if anything in the game to account for it.

So basically if certain team members didnt survive, and you play on YOU lose out, bioware doesnt have to do any extra work.  Save maybe joker saying "I sure miss "insert character here".

Honestly, considering about half the original ME characters ARE also ME2 squad mates, it doesn't seem to be as many potential squad members as one would think. We have the four original survivors of ME (two of which went with in two) which actually only leaves eight (not counting DLC) in ME2. And in ME2 it is possible to not pick up a few of the dossiers or not open or activate things (Grunt/Legion). The only real "required" NPCs seem to be Mordin, Jacob and Miranda for plot reasons.

Also, if I may point out, ME was conceived as a trilogy, which implies that the Bioware Me development team probably had a plan on how the choices were going to pan out in a general way. Doesn't mean things can't change, but I don't think the survivors of the collector base are going to just be tossed, especially old friends from ME1.

Cant agree more.

Its like
Shep:  "We need to save the galaxy again".
Liara:  "The shadow broker wronged me shepard".
Shep: "Um you realize if you dont help me, and we fail, the shadow broker will be the least of your worries."
Liara: "The shadow broker killed my friend shepard, I need to exact vengeance for him!"
Shep: "You know like seriously, I could die yet again and be gone for ever, cuz your too busy with the shadow broker, oooohhh ahhhhhh."
Liara: "Shadow"
Shep: "Oh right i forgot he killed your "friend", while were on topic, tell me more about your relationship with this "friend" you two timing ****, I couldnt exactly cheat on you because I was dead for 2 years, you blue skank."  "Screw you and the krogan you road in on."
Liara: "Broker"
