Is it safe to say Garrus and Tali are the 2 most popular characters?
Might be. They've made my A team most of the time now for two games.

Tali is a likely candidate for remaining as a squad member in ME3. For her loyalty mission she is either exiled from the Migrant Fleet or allowed to stay as "vas Normandy." She is inexplicably tied to Shepard.
mmm. yes I forgot about that. Probably because I always kept her un-exiled.
She potentially has no where else to go.

Except she can die. She might be a squadmate but she won't play a significant role.

She actually played less of a roll in ME2 than in ME1 but her story in ME2 was much better. But ya, I agree. Unless you count her being my sidekick when I take down the reapers. Thats an honerable roll.

I also hope there will be returning squadmates or it would be lame, for all those ppl saying oo they could die,so can Shep?will he not return also? If Shep can return,any1 can return.

The idea that I'm stuck with either Kaiden or Ashley when I would take anybody from the ME2 cast over them is infuriating. I don't care about them. I REALLY don't. Why don't I get the choice for THEM to die? One is not enough - I want them both dead. Bioware is essentially allowing everyone to kill off my favorite characters so I can't get them back in ME3, while the ones that I couldn't care less about I don't get a choice to get rid of - I'M stuck with them. Yay! Bleeehhhhh. I'm luke warm on Liara too...
Tali and Garrus for the win, because they've been there since day one and they have the most potential to be brought back again in ME3 for that reason. They have more pull, they're the old standbys, and they kick the daylights out of Kaiden and Ashley in the character department. Human favoritism is lame. They should be back, for the people who wouldn't get them killed in the first place - it's not that hard, not to mention it's the absolute Paragon route - we should be getting some kick back for that rather than a slap in the face.

I hope you have to pick which one of them dies in ME3, just like in the first.
That would be tough. So tough that it would take me about 3 miliseconds to shoot Garrus myself.

I'm seeing A LOT of love for Tali and Garrus. There's been quite a few suggestion threads and over and over again it seems like this suggestion keeps coming up. I think it deserves its own thread to really grab the devs attention.
So please show your support for Tali and Garrus in this thread!![]()
I loved the mini-convo Tali and Garrus had around the Citadel about their old elevator rides.
Garrus: So tali, tell me about your immune system.
Tali: I have a shotgun.

Plus, Tali's my Shep's LI. I'd be satisfied if she were the only one to return.
It would make sense for only Garrus and Tali to return out of the bunch if you kept them alive. They're the only hardcore vets from both games.
It can easily be explained why Thane wouldn't return. He explained that his life was going to end soon. Knowing this, it doesn't seem like he should be fighting in the next game.
Bioware was really awesome in bringing back Garrus and Tali in ME2. At the same time, however, when we wanted them back so badly, we dug ourselves in a hole. They're characters who could have possibly died
I think that focusing on bringing back your LI as a squadmate is much easier than bringing back the old squad as a whole, though. At least give us that,

the choice would certainly be interesting. Most of my characters would choose tali.

Seeing as this is the final act in the trilogy, all LIs MUST be considered as squadmates.
Not necessarily.
Kelly may have been an experiment at making non party-member romances.

For those that think Bioware won't dedicate the resources to do it: Look at Morinth, that is a high chance people can't recruit her in favor of Samara. Or hell, Dragon Age: Origins. Leliana, Sten, and Zevran run the chance of not being recruitable or, hell, even killed. As you've no doubt seen in your time on this board, there is an obscene amount of love for the characters, it would be a poor move on BW's part to not include them.

My femshep romanced Liara in ME1. Liara actually did a lot for Shepard compared to his/her other former squadmates. While Kaidan and Ashley turn their backs on Shepard (did not even bother try to understand what the mission was about, in my opinion), Liara actually tried to search for Shepard. However, her drastic change (which in a way I can understand why she changed so much), brought my character closer to Garrus. So, my femshep is now romancing Garrus. I intend for my male Shepard to romance Tali. I always liked her.
IMHO Tali and Garrus, like Liara, have always been supportive of Shepard. If I was in Shepard's shoes, I will want to keep squadmates who I can trust and stick with me to the end -- and not the ones who will quickly turn their backs when Shepard had to make a tough decision (- working with Cerberus is definitely against a paragon Shepard's principles) to save lives, even if it means to go against his/her principles and work with Cerberus.
I haven't finished my game yet, but, I do intend to keep all my squadmates alive whether I play my paragon or renegade Shep.
I definitely, would love to see Tali and Garrus in ME3. I really would like to keep the romance going with them --- and, uh... perhaps a sign of commitment....maybe...

Each of those scenarios is different.
1) Morinth - She has virtually no unique dialogue outside of her recruitment quest. She has 4 or 5 topics on the Normandy that just recycle like any old NPC, and doesn't she simply impersonate Samara in combat?
2) There's a difference between creating characters for a game and importing characters into a game from an earlier game. Leliana, Sten, Zevran were all designed specifically for DAO. They can only die in DAO itself. It isn't the same situation as bringing a potentially dead character from an earlier game into a new game because the player won't have the choice of avoiding the content or accessing it. If the player doesn't recruit Leliana, Sten, or Zevran, then that's their choice in the actual game to avoid the content, not an earlier game. And as Bioware shows, the "default" option for new players concerning these things is to kill said character off. So a new player in ME3 likely won't be able to choose whether or not Tali is alive.

I think by now it is clear that Tali and Garrus are the two most developed characters around, so it's pretty obvious that they'll be in the game. Nevertheless, I'll add my "vote" of support for having them as full squadmates again.
Of couse they'll be in the game. My point is that there's no reason to expect that they'll be squadmates or anything larger than a "cool cameo" ala Wrex.
I don't agree. There's a difference in character deaths here that you aren't pointing out. The ME2 squadmates, can die, but don't HAVE to. That's the difference. Kaiden or Ashley have to die, you have no choice in that, you pick one and they are dead. You have a choice in ME2, anything less than "No Man Left Behind" is a bad ending, period. This is why I don't see Kaiden or Ash returning as anything more than cameos for ME3, as it is 100% certain one of them is gone. So why waste resources on something at least 50% of the people won't see? They already do this with male/female shep, if you never play a female shep then that's a lot of resources wasted. They can do this a few times, but they can't make an entire game like that, it isn't practical. Tali and Garrus do not fall into that same category, they CAN die, but they don't HAVE to. That's a big difference. They will be in ME3, count on it. If they aren't squadmates the fallout will be enormous. Particularly after every last one of us got trolled hard in the Talimance.

I was comparing the ME2 characters to Wrex, not Kaidan and Ashley. Wrex doesn't HAVE TO die either, but he can, so he is a cameo.
