1.Samara (I have no idea why Samara pips Mordin at this stage. Probably "romanced related". I like how Samara can turn Shepard down in a really toucing way if youre mature enough to express yourself to her. Mordins "hitting on me" conversation made me chuckle. At first. Then I realised Id just been punched in the gut, because of how crap Liaras role is in ME2. My ME1 LI has nary a line to be spoken, and the comic relief guy is now claiming Im hitting on him? Shame, since if Liara had a presence in game, and the conversation could have acknowledged it, that chuckle probably would have been a rofl)

     In battle - extremely useful
     Character - looks awesome, amazing personality, hilarious
2. Thane
     In battle - extremely useful
     Character - love his design and his "coolness", but a little too depressing
3. Mordin
     In battle - Decent.
     Character - Wanted a Salarian party member since ME1, amazing personality, hilarious
4. Tali
     In battle - Average overall.
     Character - wasn't a big fan in ME1, but she's awesome in ME2
5. Legion
     In battle - haven't really used him since you get him so late but I'm assuming he's up there with Garrus & Thane
     Character - I don't know what it is but there's something that makes his "personality" adorable
6. Miranda
     In battle - extremely useful
     Character - Meh. Hate the outfit and not a big fan of the personality though she does get better
7. Zaeed
     In battle - I swap out Jacob for him ASAP and use him until I get Garrus, never use him again after that
     Character - Has some funny comments, he's a huge ass but I love it. Seems like an afterthought by the devs.
8. Samara
     In battle - Don't think I ever used her...useful for the seeker swarms at least
     Character - Not a big fan of Asari overall but she's one of the better ones
9. Grunt
     In battle - He's huge and always standing in my way and blocking my view, it annoys me
     Character - Semi-interesting but basically a poor replacement for Wrex
10. Jack
     In battle - Didn't use her much, seems ok
     Character - HATE her design. Don't hate her character as much as I thought I would
11. Jacob
     In battle - Loves to run in close with his shotgun and die
     Character - A nice, boring guy. Really boring.

1. Garrus - Cool in the first game, even more bad ass in the second. Wrex was my favorite ME1 squaddie, but Garrus was right there with us all the time =)

2. Legion - The conversations with Legion on the ship are some of the most interesting in the ME games, the reveal so much of the geth, and honestly, who doesn't want to know more about them?

3. Tali - She suprised me somewhat in ME2. I didn't really like her a whole lot in ME1, but her loyalty mission and seeing her on Freedom's Progress brought out a ton of feelings for Tali I never knew I had

4. Mordin - This guy is a great addition to the squad. Useful powers for combat and hilarious lines delivered throughout the enitre game coupled with a gut-wrenching backstory make for one compelling character.

5. Thane - As soon as I saw Thane drop from the ceiling and take care of Nassana and her guards, I knew this guy was someone not to screw with.

6. Miranda - interesting back story, great voice and lines, and other addtional "ASSets" make Miranda a memorable character

7. Samara - I loved the recruiting part of Samara's character, and the Justicars are a cool plot point to flesh out the Asari's story, but her loyalty mission is kind of lame, to be honest.

8. Grunt - I love using Grunt as a squad member for fights, but his conversations are boring to me. Honestly, the only Krogan character I've ever really liked was Wrex, and Grunt doesn't fill his gigantic shoes, in my opinion

9. Zaeed - This guy seemed like he could have been one of the coolest characters in the game, but the devs cut production time with him short. His backstory and loyalty mission have the potential to be so much more than what's there.

10. Jack never was one of the characters I was looking forward to, even in pre-release days. During the game, my suspicions proved correct, as i couldn't really latch onto the character. Her constant complaining on the ship only heightened my dislike for her. She came through in the final mission, though.

11. Jacob - What a tool. "Wah, the Alliance never gets things done! Wah, I can't be a good soldier in Cerberus!". It probably doesn't help that no matter what I do, whenevr I do use him for a mission, he always seems to take a face full of lead / rockets / powers and burn through the squad's supply of medi-gel

Mordin .. A very good rational moralist. Also quite funny and nice to chat up after missions and such

...Although I used Zaeed quite a bit more than some other characters, his loyalty quest just pissed me off that much.

Trying to come up with this list was surprisingly difficult because I
do like every character and trying to compare them to each other...
made me really think why do I like the characters the way I do. Picking one to be first was very hard but in the end...

1. Garrus
     In battle - Sniping. Overload. All too easy.
     Character - He was a favorite in ME1 and just kept on going. He's my bro.
2. Grunt
     In battle - Well, sometimes you need someone to get up close and personal. Can't snipe them all. Indestructible. HE IS KROGAN!
     Character - Grunt is a happy Krogan. That makes me happy.
3. Thane
     In battle - Sniping. Warp. Now all too easier.
     Character - Tragically romantic, tailor-made to pull the heartstrings of women everywhere. Cliche and lame and I was not going to buy it! Only I bought it. Curses, Bioware!
4. Zaeed
     In battle - Grenades. They were fun! And a more resilient sniper.
     Character - I love the stories. I love the commentary during the missions. People complain that you can't talk to him, but he has the most to say out of any of them.
5. Legion
     In battle - Sniping. Widow. Now all too easiest.
     Character - Shepherd Commander! He's like a puppy!
6. Mordin
     In battle - Inflammable! Flammable!
     Character - I can't believe I didn't put Mordin first. I think it's because I know everyone loves him, so it's not like I have to declare him the bestest of the best.
7. Jack
     In battle - When I'm not leaning on my sniping crutch and want to get on those biotics, nothing does it like pull and shockwave. And that warp ammo.
     Character - Completely surprised by her character given the Subject Zero trailer introduction. And unlike Miranda, while I managed Jack's loyalty, I never felt like were suddenly Best Friends Forever. That seemed realistic.
8. Samara
     In battle - Didn't use her very often. Just didn't fit with my own style, I guess.
     Character - I wouldn't call her beautiful, but graceful and dignified. I loved her calmness.
9. Tali
     In battle - She was surprisingly little used, given how often I took her along in ME1. I'm an Infiltrator with AI Hack ability and little use for combat drones.
     Character - Always interesting, but I discovered that our opinion of Geth and the Quarian homeworld are opposite. That could spell trouble for us in the future.
10. Miranda
     In battle - Her warp is extremely useful, so she got to go along more often than I wanted to take her. I did enjoy using slam when I first got the chance to use it, but that was more for the amusement factor.
     Character - I think her character became too easy to like given how I never gave an inch on my opinion of Cerberus. This became easier to ignore when I took her to the Collector ship and saw her reaction to the Illusive Man's machinations, but still... somehow think gaining loyalty should have been more than just doing your crewmate a favor and sort of KOTOR2 style.
11. Jacob
     In battle - Does better in battle with the new shotgun, but still rather have Grunt for that role
     Character - Alas, boring. Only got interested when he offered to spill some drinks at the Citadel, but by then, conversations were over.

Jack was my favorite overall, so disappointed I couldn't romance with Femshep. The romance with her actually felt meaningful. Despite male Shep's best attempts to ruin the mood.

Thane was a close second his calm demeanor added a nice balance. Heartwarming kind of guy I felt. Big bad assassin need a hug.

Tali is a sweet character, but can be whiny sometimes. Has depth and real emotion IMO.

Garrus is my boy. I felt he would have been loyal from the start.

Mordin grew on me.

Legion I just thought was awesome. And plus he looks up to Shep like a little bro. I'm gonna wear your armor and be just like you someday.

Miranda like her most of the time, I also watch Chuck though. Annoying on occasion someone else said it best here. "I r *sniff* *sniff* perfect. Poor me."

Grunt I liked but was too Krogan for me. I did have a minor heart attack when I saw him falling. Thank the Maker Femshep's strong enough to catch him with one arm on a sliding platform. One of the most awesome parts in my game.

Jacob I didn't mind but he felt like a improved version of Kaiden who in my games never made it off Virmire. Sent him through vents first time cause he volunteered. Immediately restart, Idiot. Shep know best, I should have known that. Shame on me.

Samara was okay seemed a little lame IMO.

Zaeed deserved more than a punch to the face. Doesn't he know who Shepard is. Santiago would have gotten his had he fell in line.

Morinth didn't use her at all

1) Jack - She was Awesome and very much in your face.

2) Samara- She was jaw droppingly sexy, even though she was so very old, and her code was very much interesting.

3) Tali- Just go to the tali fan forum for the reasons XD

4) Legion - Geth fighting on your side, Enough reason for me to like him.

5) Mordin - By far my most used Character in the game. His Heavy Incenerate destroyed a boat load of enemies.

6) Miranda - My second most used character in the game. That and she is just sexy as hell (Totally watches Chuck now) 

7) Thane - My most prized sniper. Always go out with this assassin armed with the mantis and shredder ammo

8) Grunt - Tank of Tanks. When I need someone to take the heat off me, I send in Grunt.

9) Garrus - His Squad Armor Piercing Rounds gives me and my team a huge boost in death dealing.

10) Zaeed- His Inferno Grenades Wreak some Serious Havok on Enemy implacements.

11) Jacob - My second least used character in the game. He was an ok guy, just not awe inspiring enough for me to focus on him.

12) Morinth - Yeah...she was just a crazy girl that just wants to hunt and kill everything for one reason or another. Just never really liked her.

1. Miranda- I liked her character and found her skills very useful. Complements my soldier Shepard very nicely.

2. Garrus- He's like Shep's best bud and has great lines when you bring him along.

3. Legion- As someone mentioned, he does remind me of a puppy following you around. lol

4. Mordin- He's hilarious

5. Samara- Liked her biotic reave power and her story is interesting.

6. Grunt- Liked his loyalty mission and he looks cool. Plus, you're his battlemaster.

7. Tali- I really enjoyed her loyalty mission. However, I never used her in ME1 or ME2.

8. Thane-I actually didn't care for him that much. His loyalty mission was fun however.

9. Jack- I only really used her for the final mission.

10. Jacob - He never talks to me and imo is the least developed character.

11. Zaeed

12. Mornith- I never choose her because she's a serial sex killer..
