Your ally will be the Shadow Broker. He has the resources to back you up and provide you with the SR-3 and crew. The Shadow Broker has the motivation. In ME3 the Shadow Broker instructs you to go after the Leviathan of Dis which disappeared after the batarians got hold of it. It turns out that Leviathan was a member of a genetically engineered race that were created to break the destructive cycle of the reapers. In the remains of the starship you'll find clues how to bio-engineer new ones. The Alliance finally agrees to go after the reapers after seeing the evidence and builds a fleet of them. This fleet will proof to be strong enough to defeat the reapers. Of course with Shepard as the admiral they cannot fail.

Unless Liara smacks him with biotics in some DLC

You have to drink a magic elixir made out of husks and then destroy one yourself... otherwise it's soul will move into the closest husk.

if a mass relay is able to survive a supernova.... built by reaper technology, who's to say that some reapers themselves don't have the same durability?

I had this idea about the shadow broker as a major player in ME3 long ago. All that stuff about bad for business, lots of money and shadows. But then, I thought it would be such a rip-off off KOTOR2. No...

Instead...! I know how we will win against an army of 1000 reapers. They will need to realize our value and Surrender!!! Just like the Minbari in Babylon 5 and many others. Because we are special! We've got beautiful women, we've got Emotions and the thing called Love! All aliens want that! Cylons from Battlestar Galactica, Minbari from Babylon 5, all the others from Stargate Atlantis. Everybody are ready to give up anything just to be like humans! The Reapers will realize that soon enough, surrender and then we will intruduce our values of Humanity all over the Universe and rule the World!

The story does have some shades of Babylon 5. That ended with an Alliance of sentient races to face the Shadows/Vorlons and eventually talking directly to them. I doubt the Reapers are able to be talked to though, and there is no counteracting force like the Vorlons (beings of light) against them either....

The Reaper Sovereign took dozens of direct hits from mass accelerator blasts, lasers, missiles, torpedoes and everything a human fleet could throw at it.  It was only when Sovereign's "avatar" in Saren died that the shields seemed to finally fall.  if one ship could sustain all that damage, imagine what 1,000 could do...

i guarantee you ME3 will require a GIGANTIC ass pull in order to complete the story.

because as it stands there is absolutely nothing in ME1 or ME2 that logically would be able to explain how to defeat the reapers so far.

Well ... I have this idea about fast-growing moss that actually eats away Reaper metal. Fast. Once they have a few hundred spores settled on their hull, they'd better turn around and give any star a wide berth, or the light will make the moss grow and eat them.

Of cause it would be a good thing if that moss found Alliance hull metal less delicious ...

Shepard will turn into a huge metalic Space Reaper and fight the Reaper fleet in a colossal space fight!...

Seriously now, I don't know if we'll be able to destroy the Reapers but we must be able to prevent their invasion somehow... Crack into their systems and make them wonder in space forever...

That would be cool, a desperate run as you and your crew board into Harbinger itself and fight everything on board in a crazy attempt to prevent Earth's final destruction... dudes, I'm envisioning the thing right now... in the end the Harbinger is out of control and dives into Earth's atmosphere with you on board and you have to jump in a mad skydive before the final crash...

But then again, maybe I saw this in Halo before!... lol

Wrex will be launched out of a Mass Relay directly into the reaper fleet resulting in a headbutt so epic that time itself tares. Reality's collapse in on each other stars explode blackholes are formed and an alternate reality is created that all the Reapers are sucked into and all they can do is watch threes company for all eternity. Wrex on the other hand is propelled back at lightspeed and lands safely on Tuchanka were he dawns a Top hat and Monocle seen here and goes to classy dinner party and discusses the finer things over finger sandwiches and champagne.
