I've had problems looting corpse's of the Drakes a few times... takes forever for the shimmering or w/e to show up, so the first time I thought they didn't drop anything (Then I learned that the blood puddle that shows up means they're dead and not.. lagging I guess or something.) But now I wait till I see the blood or the shimmering =p Proabably what happened to you as well.

actually the reason corpses are taking such a long time is a loading problem that bioware is supposed to fix in their new patch... that is supposed to come out with Return to Ostagar (at least that is what I heard). If you save and reload the game then the corpses should all stop lagging and the drops will be available.

I would have thought the people fake there death to prevent people looting there body. Since they aren't actually dead yet they can conceal items until there very last breath.
