I made several saves, and when i go to the load game menu, it shows nothing. I can however, do a quickload or press resume on the main menu. I'm already logged in to the cerberus network.
I also can't save game preferences. Everytime i load, the changes i made on key bindings reset to default.
Using the DDE version, Core 2 duo 2.38gh, 2gb memory, running Windows Xp

God********ingbear****sdammit Bioware, i won't download a 12gb monster on a 500kbps connection again to still have the same problem. I've already validated the files at STEAM.

Solome, are you using an old character?

can't say i've had this problem, but i'm using the ea store / EADM version. which operating system are you using? have you tried switching careers / starting a new career? are there save files in your documents/bioware/mass effect 2/saves directory? are you using a new character or an imported character?

They're all on the "BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\Save" path, the only thing i can think it's unusual, is that the files are on another harddrive, but i doubt that's the problem. I can see the save files i make in the save folder, and i can use the "Resume" option.

Already made another character from scratch, another class and another difficulty. Went to the save screen, and all the save files had vanished. Went to the load screen, it had something like nametxt or something, and no save files to be found. Went to the save screen, and now, all my saves were there again.

Also, was using an old character, just tried with a new one. I'm using Windows XP, 32bits.

Also, lol, asterisks.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks, mates.

I'm having the EXACT same problem, and it's driving me insane. Don't we have the privilege of being able to save and load in games any more? Lol.

I hope this issue is fixed with a patch ASAP because I was really looking forward to playing this game. I've started a new game about 5 times and re-installed 2 times and nothing appears when I click on load game.

I had this problem. What I did (after finding it on one of these forums) was creating a new folder inside the "Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\Save". I named it after my character and then I moved al the save files into the folder. It fixed the problem.

However I am having a problem with my settings and achievements. I keep losing them every time I restart the game. I don't know wether or not this is because I moved my savefiles...

I can confirm that this works, so thank you very much.

I have notised a couple weird things when using this fix though:

My characters Origin and Reputation (which were Spacer and Ruthless) are now blank, and it says my character was created on 00/00/2000 lol. The now lack of Origin and Reputation shouldn't be too much of a problem I would think. At least now I can save and load, thus being able to play the game finally!

EDIT: It also isn't saving my setting like you mentioned. I hotlinked the melee to an additional mouse button, and put the mouse movement to high and neither stay when you load.

First -> Don't move your savegame folder! That's what causes the problem. The folder (and the subfolders and files) is expected to be found in the C:/ drive. In Vista and Seven it is allowed to relocate your "Documents" folder by using Windows itself to move it (not moving it manually). Even then ME2 may force you to have the savegame folder in the expected place on the C:/ drive, in which case you can recreate the folder and its contained files in the expected place on the C:/ drive.

If you've lost your game settings it's probably because you don't have a "/Profile/player#.prf" file or you don't have the "Config" folder, see structure below.

Found in:
C:/Users/{user}/Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect 2
Or...
My Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect 2

Structure of the "My Documents/Bioware/Mass Effect 2" folder:

zBobG, i've tried copying the files to a My Documents folder in C:, and changing on the configuration utility where the game will use the files from Mass Effect 1 to that folder too, and the game still is saving the data on my "real" My Documents, that is on another hard drive.

Where can i change the defaulf folder for saving files?

Mass Effect is installed on the C; drive, it's just that i use the d drive for documents

Just tried changing the standard My Documents folder to C:. I still have the same problem, the game just keeps saving data on the D; drive.

I have my documents on another drive also.

I tried what zBobG said though, and couldn't get it to work.

Same here. I use two different HD's and I also don't have the profile-file... However I can't seem to get it. Anyone a solution?

Found an apparent solution at the link bellow, problem is, i'm at work so i can't test it
http://social.biowar...x/786174#804580
If anyone confirms this, please post here.

Edit: Oh, and you guys probably had to log in to the cerberus account every time you started the game too. At first i thought it was EA only being evil, but apperently, it's related to this problem as well.

Estramon, I can confirm that the work-around in that link is a 100% fix.

I can now save and load my game, and it also keeps all my settings etc (and this is after I have moved it back to where I originally wanted it saved).

Thanks so much for sharing, now I can finally enjoy this game!
