So I beat ME2 on Veteran as an Adept and I am starting over again with the ME2 Import function to play the game on Insanity.
I was dissapointed that when you did the ME2 import you were unable to change the class of your character. I already played through as an Adept, why would I want to play it again as the same class?
Is there any way to change your class when doing an ME2 import?
Please and thank you.

[SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST 15 MINUTES OF THE GAME...]
Don't you choose a new class after the initial "mission," right after the reconstruction cutscene? That's what I remember anyway. It's at the same point when you can change Shepherd's appearance, which is not right at the start of the game.

I was given the option to change my appearance and chose my 1 extra skill. I did not see the option to change my class
I've been digging around in the .pcsav files and trying to find a way to edit them to bring desired results, so far with no success.
If anyone has a solution to this I would greatly appreciate it!

You cant. I dont believe you can do that in ME1 either. I was in the same boat. Played an adept through normal and couldnt choose another class after import.
Once an adept, always an adept.

Really? I played a Vanguard in ME1 and it asked me which class I wanted for ME2. I switched to Infiltrator. The only extra stuff I noticed was an extra level (I think) and some starting cash and resources. Having the starting cash was nice.

Okay, just checked with my finished ME2 game and it's true...can't change class for the New Game+.
You can only change class when importing a ME1 save, not a ME2.
Stinks but I guess they want to encourage...well I don't really know.

This is about using an ME2 save, not ME1. If you started over in ME1 with an existing character you couldn't change your class either.

Becuase of how they do it. You keep your skills. If they allowed you to pick a new class, then you would have all your points in the wrong categories and you would be playing Adept, just in the class of something else

well they could just give you the same amount of points to allocate in new categories as you had in your old game, not that hard.

Not being able to change the class makes that way of replaying worthless (Gaining levels to max the skills you chose last and one extra skill!!.....). Guess i'll just start fresh.
EDIT: At least the acheivement grants the bonus skill to even fresh starts.

This is really no different than ME1, you couldn't change class there either. It promotes "replayability" by creating lots of different Shepards and having a collection of characters to import into ME2 (the same way ME1 did). If they let you just use "one" play for everything it would actually harm replayability in the sense of many characters to create.

on ps3, when importing a ME2 character for a new ME3 game, you can change your class. You can not change your class when importing for New Game Plus.

I am sorry, but if you want to discuss the console versions, you must post your comments in the appropriate forums. This is the PC Tech forum, and the thread is really too old to be of any valid use for reference, even if you wanted to discuss PC Tech matters.
