I've managed to loot a boatload of gems, and other items such as "paper", etc which appear in my tab (not crafting, not misc). Any idea what these are for? Would I be safe selling them?

Oh also, what are Love Letters for? I've found two of these, both in my plot item inventory.

I've sold all my gems. The crystals with properties are for Shale. I've found no use for the parchment. The love letters all just go into my Codex, they don't stick around in my inventory.

The gems as far as i know buffs your dwarf army. When you gain an ally you can find one of their guys at camp next to a box. Dalish wants elfroot + deep road mushroom Mages wants runes every rune except the best one's Dwarves wants medium quality gems dont know which all of these are they took to mention some sapphire and malecite but not diamonds for instance. I dont know what the redcilff army wants or the human/werewolf or the templars want. I dont even know what this really will do in the end but you ask them what they need and this is what they say they need. When you add stuff you get diffrent responds from them like Your most generous to your troops warden, You have the best equiped army warden got this after giveing about a 100 each of elf + deep road to the dalish can still keep on giveing though and since theres a guy in deep road who sells an infinite supply of the mushrooms i dont mind

Also there is a quest in Denerim i think i got it there that sets you out to collect 12 diffrent love letters for blackmail uses this is were i think these goes to. Dont know about the other stuff though could be for army a quest or something else only done about 20% of the game yet :s

Ah I didn't know about the armies. I'm finding it difficult to farm for my own stuff right now actually. =/ I don't see the plants respawning, etc.
