Has anyone figured out just -how much- threat using any given type of armor adds? For example, is the difference in threat between someone in full Massive armor much bigger than someone in medium?

Been asking the same thing. Since I haven't figured out how to avoid pulls from my main tank PC.

I wasn't aware it added any threat.  Do you mean "fatigue"?

Initial threat is determined by your armour and how close you were to the enemy when combat started. This is why they always go after the person in the front.

No, I mean threat. Heavier armors equal higher levels of threat.

I haven't really noticed it doing anything. The loading screen tip implies that enemies will be more prone to attack someone in heavy armor if they're next to someone in light armor, but that's not accurate. Archers, for example, always attack the nearest target until they are otherwise engaged. If anything, wearing heavier armor acts like the Threaten sustained, adding a % increase in threat to your attacks. If it does anything, it appears to be very minor.

I'll be.   I had no idea -- I had just assumed it was a first sight/proximity/damage combination.   I had no idea that armor factored in.

I believe that it doesn't actually generate threat on its own, but magnifies your own threat. My human warrior wears medium armor, whereas Allistair sports Warden Commander (massive) armor. While my human warrior will often be the first target, and will generally have her share of people trying to kill her, over the course of the fight they tend to prefer to hit Allistair, despite the fact that my warrior does significantly more damage.

*This is of course is purely my observations.

I read that it was supposed to be something like, all things being equal, threat rating is lowest for naked/clothed/robed/unarmored, in between for light armor, and highest for medium/heavy/massive armor.

In practice, I find it's whoever they see first is who they go after. Followed by whoever is damaging them most. (Not counting hexes or aggo talents.) Armor seems to be a very minor factor in my battles. Also the "reduced hostility" items don't seem to be very effective either - at least not that I have observed.

Do the hostility reduction bonus items stack? I wonder if it would make a difference if you had someone equipped with 3-4 of them.

Similarly having one target wear all the hostility increase items could be interesting.
