At the end of the game, the reapers were obviously controling the leader directly, and when that control was relinquished, unless i read the character wrong, i saw fear and sadnes and automatically felt bad for it, maybe thats what the prothens actually look like, and he/she became aware just before its death :(

I'm probably just reading into things too much, but did anymore else feel the same way?

*do not watch if you havent completed the game*

Skip to 3:20 for bit i'm talking about

Given it wasn't even Prothean anymore, no, not at all.

Its twisted so it doesnt actually have any of its old form, traits, mind, so no, not especially, its just another type of husk.

A little, but not really. At least the protheans are finally free.

well if you notice, with its dying breath, the Prothean/Collector leader sends the schematics of Harbinger to the Normandy.

I felt the same for the Collector-General.
Right after Harbinger released control and he turned around just to see this huge blastwave coming. This was quite sad. With all the knowledge about the Protheans and their resistance against the reapers, this was not the end they deserved.

@Jzier: This is quite heroic. I will watch the vid again. Didn't saw this at the first time.

Wasn't sure if that's what he was doing, but it would make sense since they didn't realy explain that bit. Also lets TIM and cerebrus still have an option for attaining the tech they would have gotten from the station. It's hard to read expression from an arthropodian creature like a collector, but I did kinda get the feeling that it may have been releaved that it was finally free. It didn't really react to the explosion, just kinda slouched over and watched it consume him, almost peacefully.

then why did it help us in the end?...  I think the prothen was very aware of what was going on after its mind was freed

I liked when he was finally released from control and he turned just to look at the explosion and say "Well ****"

was he sending a schematic? I interpreted that as a direct com with Harbinger for the purpose of being controlled. Perhaps he was, I'll have to watch that scene again.

It did have a different design to the rest of the Collectors, so it could have been left more intelligent and given off a "oh thank you... I'm free." kind of sigh. And in that case, getting sent scematics would make sense.

BioWare is always good at making the apparent villains not seem that bad at the end of their games, just like Saren if you persuade him to take his own life - now THAT made me sad.

What if collectors is descendant of prothean scientists, who survived, adapt themselves with reaper´s technology in order to take reapers down. The had a lot of time to create new collectors and made them to grow their numbers and do a lot of research on every way. They had galaxy without sapient races - easy to explore and gather any clue, which could help them to defeat reapers next time. They were always checking, how sapient races are doing (like the reapers). They were looking for anything, what could help. After attack on citadel, they saw, that humanity had a big potential and decided to do final preparation for reapers - build reaper of their own... And what race is better to be fundamental than race, that defeat reaper once? ......... Yes, collectors WERE going to take Earth and nearly (or everyone) every human colony, but they were doing this in order to prottect the rest of sapient races....

How was he sending a schematic? He didnt even do anything. I doubt he sent a schematic when he was under control. But how did the Normandy get the thing in the end?

I just watched it again for like the fifth time, I don't see anything like that happening.

Before he dies, you see a hologram of a Reaper appear.  The General pushes some buttons and dies.  And at the very end, you see Joker hand Shepard a PDA that shows that very same Reaper.

So you're saying that while the general was under control of harbinger, harbinger controlled the general to send schematics of himself to the normandy...

He's still under the control of Harbinger when he's pushing buttons, you can tell because his eyes are still glowing yellow and when Harbinger leaves they go dark and he slumps forward without pushing any buttons at all. I'd imagine EDI fished that info out of the collectors networks while you were fighting them, after all if they've got no physical defences against ships or intruders they're not going to have a very secure network either.
