Should be rather easy as a Soldier - even on Insanity. Equip the Avenger rifle with Disruptor ammo, go up the right ramp, and don't stop shooting. Carve your way through the Geth, and save your overloads for the Geth Destroyer.

Hose down the remaining Geth, and don't descend the ramp, rather go to your right and you can see a ledge conveniently there to let you hunch down behind. The farthest cover could only allow you and one other teammate - so bunker down and kill the Geth surrounding the Colossus quickly.

A good strategy is to look for a crowd, hit AR, shoot one to about 50% health, then Overload it to guarantee a kill, so that your exposure time can be limited. Meanwhile, order your squadmates to whittle down the Geth Colossus' defenses. When the area is clear of goons, take it down to armor.

Then take out your Viper sniper rifle, equip it with Inferno ammo and pull the trigger like a maniac.

For a Vanguard, take the left side from Kal'Reegar, and charge it repeatedly - finding the closest cover after charging to avoid being turned into paste by its insanely powerful machine gun. The Eviscerator with Zaeed ammo works well.

For an Engineer, sic your Drone on it, preferably the Explosive evolution. Besides maintaining your Drone, just spam Overload, then Incinerate. You don't even need to lean out to shoot, so clearing out the area is not required. A bit long, and the Viper can help if you chose it.

For an Adept... well... you just got your Tempest right? Singularity the fools in front of you, shoot until they float and blow them up with Warp. Clear the area. Then shoot the Colossus until its shields drop. Spam Warp. Done. If you feel like it, you can even throw in a bit of pistol sniping.

Sentinels... never played them past the Lazarus station. Seems like they can do everything though.

Infiltrators, good if you have Energy Drain, if not just bring Garrus with Overload. Pull out Tempest with Disruptor, cloak, shoot, reload, cloak, shoot, reload - when its shields go down, pull out your Viper/Mantis/Widow, cloak, and shoot it in the head. Rinse and repeat.

How do threads specifically like these get necro'd anyway? I can see someone necro'ing a thread that's a discussion back and forth, but one where someone was asking for help five months ago?

Take the right path on the battlefield. Always take the right path. In my experience, this is the absolute best way to survive the fight and take out the Colossus the easiest

First things first, you'll have a lot of cover from the Colossus. However, one of the harder parts to deal with is that the sun will roast you if you're not careful. You'll need to take cover near the little alcoves jutting out from the wall. You'll know you're in the right spot when you take cover and you're not taking sun damage. I recommend having Grunt with you because it won't matter where he's taking cover, he's immune to the sun damage. Then you just need to keep pressing ahead as hard as you can, and advance as quickly as possible.

However! If you manage to keep moving up, you will eventually find yourself in some kind of box. There's ammunition, a health kit, and more cover from the Colossus than any other spot on the battlefield. And in addition to thef act that the geth swarms seem to slow down when you reach this vantage point, the geth colossus stops repairing itself when you're in the box.

Maybe it's a glitch, but every time I made it to that box, I could just hammer away at it, and while it kept hurling energy balls at me, it wouldn't repair itself. I took the Colossus out, and the rest was easy; just mopping up the remaining geth.

I played on insanity with an infltrater and I made a joke out of the Colossus. I fought through the Geth with Garrus and Thane close behind on the left side of the field. I took out their shields by using Garrus' overload and sabotaged all the Geth. I flanked the Colossus and a Geth Destroyer came. My squad was alive and near me and they took out it's shields. I sabotaged the Destroyer until it killed the Colossus for me with my squad's help! It took me two tries and I made Kal' Reegar stay out of the battle.
