Cannot or will not? If you just plain don't understand it then nothing anyone can say will convince you, nor does anyone owe you an explanation anyway. It's like asking why some people have favorite colors. They just do. It appeals to them. They are its target audience. But eh, I'll take the bait.
I happen to think Thane is downright sexy; he's got a hot voice, gravelly and masculine with a touch of honey that keeps it smooth and resonant. His speech is eloquent; to the point, but intelligent, introspective. He has a matured air to him. He carries himself with professional confidence, he's good at what he does and he does it well. He's efficient. He's quick.
His outfit? Awesome. I love the aesthetic, the contoured lines that highlight musculature and play along with the balance of his greater design -- he looks sleek, tight, coiled but at ease. And I like leather.
He's got smooth, speckled scales and exotic stripes as well as numerous textures that are just fascinating to observe. He has gorgeous lips and a charming smile as well as dark eyes that are fathomless and as friendly as they are alien. The interconnecting plates of his face and cranium are lovely artistic touches -- very elegant, almost sculpted, and I love how the pattern sweeps down his neck behind his collar. The balance is amazing -- the dark mark under his lip plays off the darker scale of his forehead (a "spiritual third eye" if you will) and the gradating sweep of his eyes. It's a perfect proportion. It's symmetry.
He's like a fine spice. Maybe you catch a whiff of it and you crinkle your nose at first because it's unusual and not something you've ever tried before, but it grows on you and suddenly it's a scent you can lose yourself in because it has memories and this heart-warming familiarity to it that draws you without compromising its exotic nature.
TL;DR: "He's the strong, sensitive, murdering type. Those are always good to have around. Great cuddler."
There is nothing I can say that will ever convert you or anyone else. No epiphany, no hanar hallelujah chorus revelation. You don't understand the attraction? Cool. I don't understand how you don't. Now we are even.
