My game froze for the first time today. After about 120hours of play.
Anyway it kept freezing in the same place all the time.
So I went to the memory section of the dashboard, highlighted hard drive then pressed 'Y'
Next selected clear system cache.
Game now works properly and doesn't freeze.
If you are having freezing problems and haven't cleared the cache yet then try it.
It's perfectly safe to do so. You will just have to redownload the me2 patch which only takes a few seconds.

I am so pissed! I was about 75% done with ME2, and I decided I wanted to play some of my older games from the past few years. In all I played: Fable 2, Bioshock 1, GTA IV and GTA San Andreas for about 20 mins each just for a little entertainment and to see where I'd left off. All four of the games I played required updates, and so I did updates everytime I was prompted to.
Afterward I was ready for some ME2 and that's when my problems started. The game would freeze everytime after I'd press start at the red and black "Press Start" screen. The screen would fade black and the music is supposed to continue to play, except for me, the music would stop and everything would freeze up. My controller and xbox were entirely unresponsive. The only way to do anything was to physically press the power button.
I spent hours on forums and the xbox service site and have tried everything: I tried other games, all of which worked. I cleaned the disk. I removed the hard drive. I cleared the cache. I transfered my game saves to an external hard drive. I transfered my profile to an external hard drive. I deleted my profile and gamertag and then recovered them. I went through the older games I played earlier tonight which required updates and erased my new saves. I uninstalled and then reinstalled ME2 to my harddrive. I even gave up, created a new profile and attempted to start a new ME2 game, that of which FROZE at the yellow/orange skull screen like others here have
experienced. I am FED UP !
My issue is that I played a few older games, which required updates, and now ME2 freezes at the same point
every time I try to play. Now it wont even play after creating a new profile. WTF! It seems I am deemed to never play ME2 again and I absolutely loved the first game and was definately enjoying myself with this one. I am so dissapointed, fustrated and angry. Nothing I have tried has worked.
I wish I could turn back time to a few hours ago and never played those four games which needed updates. It seems that the updates that are on my profile have corrupted something with logging in to my gamertag and saved games. And, the best part is, there is no "recover" feature with the XBOX like there is with a computer,
where you can recover your computer to a certain day and time before changes were made. I don't know what to do. Help anyone? Has anyone else encountered this?

Yeah, really weird problem for me. It froze twice on my initial playthrough, and now at the very first cinematic of the second playthrough, it freezes. I imported a ME1 character for the initial playthrough and am continuing for the second. Hope this issue doesn't keep occurring.

The only game freezes I have ever had came from trying to start a new char (ME1 import worked perfectly 4 times) it took 5 tries before it finally loaded past the screen with the skull on the right side. Other than that my only complaint with the game was dying on insanity b/c the cover system was so buggy and would randomly stand you up

My game froze when I first started it up when it was loading the face editor (after all the unskippable cutscenes). When I restarted, it did it again. I couldn't even get to the face editor until the third try, and nearly 40 minutes. Since then it has played fine. This was on an Xbox 360 Elite with the game installed to hard drive.
I have a Halo 3 Xbox 360 in another room, and since my save was on my hard drive, I went to start another character on Insanity, and again it froze at the beginning of the game.
Since then, on that console I've had it crash several times when going to the squad menu to level up. Altogether I've had at least a dozen freezing crashes on 2 different consoles. It's very frustrating.

These aren't quite the circumstances I had hoped to start posting on the forums under, but I've also started experiencing a lot of freezes now that I've moved on the second playthrough. It seems a majority of freezes occur during loading screens - and the more in rapid succession the worse it seems to be (navigating the Normandy has become a real chore).
I think I've try just about all the troubleshooting suggestions one can read here and elsewhere on the web: clearing the cache and redownloading the updates; checking to make sure the disc isn't scratched; keeping the system well ventilated; switching resolution to a lower setting; turning off the film grain graphic effect; deleted all the downloadable content and reinstalled them; running off the harddrive; and so on. Clearing the cache and reapplying the updates seems to offer some respite, postponing freezes a good five minutes or so. After trying several other games the problem sadly seems to be ME2 specific.
I'm thinking it's probably time to try exchanging for a new copy. Has anyone had any experience returning theirs to the EA store by chance?

Ok so I'm the OP and I've tried my friends xbox with my HD and got a refurbished one. Getting a new or trying different xboxs solved all of my freezing issues. My old xbox was 5 years old. so that box was causing my freezing problems.

Hi everybody
i have a skulltrail vista ultimate 64 bit
2 Nvidia geforce gtx 275 SLI
Everything looks beautiful, but it randomly freezes.
It would be nice to be able to play the game for 15 min. without random pause!
When i turn on SLI the game gets a disgusting red taint and flashes.
So any ideas on settings for my PC or Nvidida control panel, or even the game?
Thanks for your help.
