Im doing that **** renegade playthrough, and I'm on the Samara mission, but I can't kill her. He just said end of the line Morinth. Didn't you have to chose... that's how I remember it on my first playthrough. And also, how many paragon/renegade points do you need to say "Surprise" or "You're screwed up" to Morinth? I've been dying to see what her response to those is...

When Samara and Morinth start fighting you can pick who to kill.

To get the option to kill Samara you need to charm/intimidate Morinth both times on the couch.

..If your Paragon or Renegade is high enough. Clearly yours isn't. Mine was about 95% when I did it.

Just means you have to commit to a moral pathway.

Quite a few conflicts and situations will go badly for you if you try to fence sit your way through the game.

I'd say "life-like" rather than "badly". The concept of always being able to get things your way as long as you blindly follow one moral code no matter the circumstances and the view point of other people involved in the situation is laughable rather than "good" as far as resolutions of conflicts go.
