I think we have determined 8.5/10 people prefer Tali over any other. There are many reasons for this. Tali is just such a great character. Bioware needs to look at these type of threads for Mass Effect 3.

If they do not put Tali in it I will never forgive them.

Tali always felt like a little sister to me and it was awkward having her as a potential LI.  I don't know if I'll be able to force one of my Shepards to go down that road or not :o

I think Tali should be a one-and-done squadmate in ME3.  Bring her back, let her have a reunion, then go on one or two missions with you before replacing her with a brand new character.

Actually, I think this is the treatment most previous characters should receive.  I don't want to waste ME3's probably huge budget on the same characters I've seen before :)

Ya.. That not such a good idea in my book people were already a tad upset only 2 of there old squad would return the point of us forging are own story is to keep what we like and remove what we don't, to remove all past characters for the room of "new character" would kill large amount of build up ME3 has been building up to. In the end of a trilogy one doesn't simply cast out the old crew for something flashy and new when you want to end something you pull in all that you done in the past together in a gigantic glories finale.

To sum it up not having the old cast be apart of your crew would ruin me3 potential

You know, I've put some great detail into this line of thought. Yeah, I'm a huge nerd. But I guess I'll go into detail about it.

+ For starters, she's got a uniqueness about her. Between her personality being so up-beat, to her being the only Quarian in the first game, she had a good start that gave something to build on.

+ A lot of guys like girls who aren't completely girly. Does that make sense? Being so into engines is actually a turn on to some degree, because it makes her stand out among a world full of Asari.

+ There is something to be said about a mystery about her ofcourse. Personally, it was one of the things that opened the interest, but after ME2, I don't care what she looks like anymore. She can look like the Predater for all I care, as long as she doesn't try to kill me.

+ The last point leads to just bluntly saying: Personality > Looks. Most "manly men" don't like to just flat up admit to that, but give me a girl who I'll be able to talk to for hours on end over a girl who I could stare at for hours on end.

+ During the course of Mass Effect 2, she becomes... so real, I guess? Holding her when she found her father is a very emotional scene. Her making it clear that she clearly likes you via messages you were never supposed to hear made me smile, etc.

+ She's fully capable of taking care of herself, yet you still want to take care of her at the same time.

+ This is kinda a random X-Factor one, but the Quarians such an easy species to want to "take care of", like I just mentioned above. Think about it. They can die just because there suit gets a small hole in it if they don't catch it in time. They are constantly looked down upon by all races, even though none of the current group were alive when the decisions were made. The mission on the Citadel with the Quarian being harassed, I felt like I had to help her just because she had it hard enough. A Quarian Female is are the kittens of the Mass Effect universe. If this is becuase of the impresion Tali made, or just because how there species is mapped out, I'm not sure, but every time I see a Quarian in need, esspecially a female, it becomes my duty to keep them safe.

So yeah, there's what I figure. Oh, and them hips.

Personally, I wasn't a tali-love fan until ME2. She was cool and I liked her character, but her being a love interest never really entered my mind, and I didn't really understand why Talifans clamored for her to be an love interest.

Then in the second game, her character became really fleshed out (Hug-interrupt FTW), and her LI sub-plot too adorable for words.
Liara is still my Shepard's main girl though. Even a lovable quarian can't get him to cheat.

It has nothing to do with some nerd fantasy (at least not for me), It because I like her personality and character the best. If you don't like her that fine by me, I don't give a ****.

Legion plush toy would be epic. I would definatly buy one. With a pull string that says, "We are still building a concensus, come back later." and randomly shout "Shepard Commander!"

Because people aren't attracted to luscious boobs and a beautiful ass.... they would rather go for the alien girl with no face and a 16 year old's personality.... weirdos.

Heaven forbid there be an actual female there instead of some idolized male fantasy.

I like her because her visual appearance and personality weren't taken to any of the extremes of usual female characters. Miranda's a good example of a visual extreme. Tali's personality and general visual form occupy those middle ground zones, and there's just something nicer about that. There's something approchable yet fun about the character, and I think it has to do with that  middle ground approach. She has some extreme ideas, but they're counter balanced (geth opinions) and the majority are right there in the middle zipping around. Her only true extreme is that she becomes attached to Shepard not through owing him, but through trusting him and becoming loyal - not in game mechanics but in the benefit of the doubt she gives him even in actions she might have doubts on.

Well said. I found that Tali's personality played a large part in my decision to choose her for my first playthrough. She is in some ways the same fun, loveable, friendly Tali from ME1, but here, she has matured and grown as a person [so to speak]. What she, as a Quarian, looks like, also intrigued me enough to choose her, however, I simply enjoyed talking to her and learning more about her and the Quarians. BioWare have a great ability to create these fantastic, deep and believable characters that really draw you in, both visually and story wise. They chose a really great voice actor as well, and wrote for her some fantastic dialogue. You can really see that Liz Sroka has infused some of her own personality into Tali and that adds further depth to both Tali, and the story too.

I liked Miranda as a renegade LI. She doesn't take anyone's ****, and she gets the job done, regardless of what it takes. Her alternate costume just seals it. it was great hearing her tell TIM to bite Shepherd's ass at the end if you sided against him.

Because she's a nice, nerdy, shy, wonderful girl who we all fell in love with in ME1, and they just made her better and cooler in ME2. I think her voice has something to do with it as well.

Tali appeals mostly to longtime fans of bioware.  The devs acknowledge this by making her combat responses harken back to Minsc and Aerie (from Bioware's collaboration with Black Isle Studios).  Bioware has developed their loyal and longtime fanbase in large part because of their characters, and their fans have spent a significant portion of the past 15 years with bioware characters.  Playing a new Bioware game is like rediscovering old friends.  Tali is an amalgam of the best aspects of many of their female characters over the years.

As others have observed, she is not a "stock" character such as Miranda (femme fatale / sexy spy), Jack (troubled delinquent), Morrigan (suburban goth in sorceror garb), and the like.  Newcomers to Bioware tend to like these more cliche characters because they are familiar (and borrowed from other genres/artists).

Tali is Bioware's own, and she is the result of 15 years of cumulative experience in storytelling and game design.  She is the best character that they have ever produced.  It is no surprise that the developers spend extra effort on her quests and her lines. It is also no surprise that longtime Bioware fans adore her.

Interesting. I never thought that my being a hardcore bioware fan would make me like Tali more. It makes sense though considering I am a hardcore Aerie fan. I <3 Tali.

Never thought of it that way either. Makes sense, though
Along with what has been said about her being the most "real" LI in the trilogy so far, considering what you've been through

She was a teen (or the quarian version of a teen) in ME1. In ME2 shes an adult. I like seeing how much she has grown up. Also I think I also like her simply because she wasn't a romance option in ME1. Not being able to romance her made me want her.

You have some interesting points there that expand my idea of why do some people into her. Thanks for elaborating.

With Tali, Bioware created a persona of an alien character that is as passionate about her people as Shep is about his without being xenophobic or arrogant about it. Even without a clearly visible face she's aesthetically pleasing and many people love an accent. She at times come across as vulnerable and seeming fragile, but as you learn more about her you find out how strong and willful she is.

No problem. Happy to help. :)

Also, it's better then everyone always ranting and raving going "TALI SUCK!" "SCREW YOU TALI'S AWESOME" in these chats, right? Agree to disagree, people!

Everyone knows or knew someone like her (personality wise) or at least know of the type.

I find it hard pressed NOT to be attracted to someone like that.
