Never thought of it that way either. Makes sense, though
Along with what has been said about her being the most "real" LI in the trilogy so far, considering what you've been through
In my opinion, the most real LI in the trilogy is Ashley Williams / Kaidan Alenko. It was more detailed and they didn't just jump on me, like most of the LIs in the second game (with the exception of Thane maybe, but again, I never pusued cross-species romances as it breaks one principal of the sci-fi setting). On top of that, they weren't as easy. There were disagreements, and actually a very pissed-off romance interest in Horizon. Which made sense and felt real.
See, your arguing this as if Tali was just introduced in ME2, which is why I think your logic is flawed. Tali's relationship is built over the course of 2 games, and over 2 years. Also, there are fights in the relationship between Tali and Shepard if you play it right (disagreeing about how the Quarians handled the Geth evolution, namely).
And I guess the big fight is realistic, but it also maks both characters come across as extremely unlikable. If your supposed to care about someone so much, then why is it that every single other person you've come across on the ship has understood your reasoning when they can't? Chakwas and Joker signed onto the ship, Garrus and Tali both joined with little to no question, even in spite of Tali's dislike of Cerberus, Wrex greeted you like your his closest friend, etc. They are the only ones who refuse to even try to listen to were your coming from.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, yeah, they are realistic relationships. But they also are deeply flawed relationships that clearly suffers from trust issues, that has either of them acting like a complete idiot. If I wanted a relationship with 2 people bickering for the sake of bickering, I'd just date someone in real life.
On the other hand, there's sweet Tali who makes it clear that she understands if you don't want to pursue her, and I've even accidently ended our relationship a couple times, has undying loyalty to you for the things you've done for her before you showed any romantic interest in her, and stands by your side in spite of a complete distrust for basically everyone else on the Normandy.
I think what we might need to start doing is instead of saying this is the most realistic relationship, we should describe it as the most caring and heart felt.
