You can see hints of Tali's face in the mask, it is very fairy/faeish from what I can tell but that might be just me.

They have taken the time to really build her up as a character. She has the most emotional parts of the game and is a super atractive alien female. There is also the mistery behind what she really looks like. In the first game if you got her skills up you could hack and open anything without having to actually do it. They took that out in this game but what are you gonna do. She is the only character that can make you feel something without even showing you her face. Just think about how deep that is. Her love for Shepard actually feel genuin like a story right out of a romance novel and her response to you having another LI is just perfect and respectable. Not to mention she has a great voice. Tali for the win!

Well, I don't know about a majority. But her fan base is very vocal.

Tali has a certain exotic appeal. Of all the female LIs available, Tali is the most alien to us. Not just in a sense of non-human, but even her more human aspects are very reminiscent of Eastern culture, as opposed to most of us players, who are primarily Westerners. Her clothing, accent, and veiled appearance are similar to a Middle-Eastern culture, so even what is familiar about her isn't so familiar.

Personality wise, she is also perhaps the sweetest girl out there. She isn't super confident, she trusts. She gets excited and nervous, you can hear the butterflies flitting around in her stomach when she talks to you. She is a bit geeky, and there is appeal there. I know that I find gamer girls more appealing to me than others simply because of the shared interests. In real life, a girl who was like Tali would be more attractive to me than any of the other options, both ME1 and ME2. It makes sense that my character, as an extension of myself, would find Tali the more appealing option. Plus the history, the preexisting friendship, and the unique emotional situation (being with her when she discovers her father's death and crimes, as opposed to helping the others deal with their demons after the fact) makes the relationship seem more real. Writers go to a great deal of trouble to write a believable romance in games like these, and I feel with Tali they broke the mold. Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

maybe, but i highly doubt it.  you have to take into account that once the mask came off, there was no hesitation on shepards part.  there was no "gah!" or "oh god" or anything of that sort.  once the mask came off, they went at it.  which would generally leave me to believe that tali is, in fact, quite attractive underneath the mask.

Did you see this youtube video lol

I hope Bioware shows Tali's face in ME3. And I hope they make her horrendously ugly just to see how many people would still stick with Tali in the end.

Except for the fact she has to be in a constant body suit she is the ideal female personality imo

I don't think that you ever actually see her body. It could be scabby or scaly for all we know. :D

You know you are right Pathogen69, there was no hesitation. Its was like *mask off* then.. *POUNCE* LOL FTW TALI!!!!

Sorry, wrote too much and had to size it down (damn you Tali feelings). But in the time it took me to write, other posts by Lord Atlia and quartzedge nailed it. Mad props to the animators at Bioware and Liz Sroka for making Tali a believeable character through her talented voice acting. She is IMO the most believeable character in the ME universe (despite the fact that we are all in a spaceship travelling faster than light and she is an alien). The emotions conveyed are picked up so easily that its hard not to fall for her, especially when you realize that she is just SO in love with Shepard. She acts like someone who really feels it, even tho she is just a pixelated pretend character.

Challenger 18 made a valid point as well: She is just so adorable because of her relative innocence. (virgin?)

I guess it boils down to some people see it as a fantastic story with well written dynamic characters, and others just see it as a chance to improve their gamer score.

Grunt supports this theory, only because he says Salarians / Humans and Asari are soft.

"Quarians, not so much."

I like Tali mainly because of how much she has changed in the first game. She started out as this weak, talkative, young girl who looked to please Shepherd in any way possible. IN ME2, she still has a little bit of that, but you know she has been through a lot since the first game. Now she is a bit more mature and a bit colder.

It is hard not to like someone who has been with you since the first game, and is loyal enough to come and help even after all the changes both of you have been through. Compared to Ashley and Kaiden, Tali is the best character from the first game. I mean even after everything, she is still on your side. Where are the other two? Pouting over the fact that you are working for cerberus. At least Liara and Wrex have a reason to not come back.

So there you go. Her loyalty, her progression as a person, and the fact that Kaiden and Ashley ****** me off, are the reasons that I like Tali so much.

Or, her suit could be a quantum-storage device which actually makes her appear relatively humanoid to observers, when she, like all Quarians, is a golem like Shale.

I must be living in a different world because I didn't get that vibe from Miranda or Jack at all. I did get that vibe from Tali. Infact, Kelly will specifically mention that Tali wants to jump your bones(okay, thats a bit of an exaggeration) right after you recruit her. So even Kelly got that vibe from Tali.

They're a tease now, but I bet that when the time comes, they'll turn out to be complete and utter ****s. Or maybe that's cats... I get confused some times.

I like Tali because she's sweet and loyal, and she's probably one of the only people that Shepard can actually call 'friend'. Seriously, who didn't melt when you hear her logs about how she misses Shepard?

Are you insane? or are you just talking out of your ass?!? You didn't get the feeling that SuZe just wanted to bang you right away, but you did from Tali.

I can't believe I read that.

I like her because her visual appearance and personality weren't taken to any of the extremes of usual female characters. Miranda's a good example of a visual extreme. Tali's personality and general visual form occupy those middle ground zones, and there's just something nicer about that. There's something approchable yet fun about the character, and I think it has to do with that  middle ground approach. She has some extreme ideas, but they're counter balanced (geth opinions) and the majority are right there in the middle zipping around. Her only true extreme is that she becomes attached to Shepard not through owing him, but through trusting him and becoming loyal - not in game mechanics but in the benefit of the doubt she gives him even in actions she might have doubts on.

Wow, spot on. This sums it up for me. She just is like the perfect character. Miranda is like the queen **** of the galaxy until you do her side mission, but by then i had just been turned off, and jack is like wtf-is-that-thing-i-wouldn't-touch-that-with-a-ten-foot-pole, samara/morinth is like hey-have-you-looked-at-my-breasts-i-wore-the-outfit-that-would-show-them-off-the-best-i-could or in otherwords, the sr2's tramp........so that leaves Tali, who in all actuality has the type of personality that i wish i could find in someone, she is just so likeable.

I don't know if that would necessarily be a bad thing for this lot. She already has chicken feet, goat legs, sloth fingers, and the face of who knows what so what are a few scabs or scaly or build-up really?

Miranda is the best looking but she is committed to Cerberus and i don't like that.

In the end of the game, she sees TIM for what he trully is and sides with you, so she quits Cerberus.

You can see troughout the game if she's on your squad that she's got a good notion of right and wrong. It's just that she owes much to TIM and it's hard for her to distrust him. But if you stick with her, she rewards you in a big way when you decide to blow up the collector base.

As for all the Tali love, I don't get it either. I feel like she's a little sister type character to my Shepard. Like someone else on this thread said, I think Tali fans are just very vocal.

What worries me is if they give the people at Bioware the wrong impression. I don't like the teenage feelling I get from Tali's romance.

I prefer the feelling of love between equals I get in romancing Miranda and I'd be very disapointed if I weren't able to pursue my relationship with her in ME3. Besides, she's an awesome squad mate. Her Overload, Warp and class bonus are great. Her Warp is particularly useful against Harbinger.

I don't get the Tali love either... I think she's a nice girl and all, but as far as a love interest... not so much. She falls into the kid sister catagory for me. It also doesn't help that bumping uglies would practically kill her (no immune system). For a LI, I'd prefer Miranda, or Jack (crazy girls are fun in the sack).
